The final SBN award voted on by its baseball writers is Player of the Year. Our equivalent of the MVP awards that will be announced later today, both Mike Trout and Buster Posey won easily for their respective leagues.
Already named Rookie of the Year, Trout was so good that he received all but four of the first place votes. For all the talk about Trout vs. Miguel Cabrera in the press this year, not many SBN writers chose the Triple Crown winner for first place.
I already wrote about Trout's stats in his Rookie of the Year post, so you can check them out there.
If you're curious about the votes that came from Camden Chat, here they are:
Stacey: 1. Mike Trout, 2. Miguel Cabrera, 3. Robinson Cano, 4. Adrian Beltre, 5. Justin Verlander, 6. Prince Fielder, 7. David Price, 8. Adam Jones, 9. Edwin Encarnacion, 10. Josh Willingham
Mark: 1. Mike Trout, 2. Miguel Cabrera, 3. Adrian Beltre, 4. Robinson Cano, 5. Justin Verlander, 6. Ben Zobrist, 7. David Price, 8. Adam Jones, 9. Josh Hamilton, 10. Alex Gordon
It's interesting how often our ballots have matched up, considering we didn't consult until we'd already voted. Check out the full voting list below, including one 10th place vote for J.J. Hardy!
