School of Roch: Should Manny be Manny in Baltimore?
Roch says NO.

Oriole Rotation Projected to Improve | Dempsey's Army
I can't imagine they could get any worse, can you?

Some Orioles notes on Manny Ramirez, roster additions, Jeff Larish, Jeremy Guthrie - baltimoresun.com
The O's signed Jeff Larish to a minor league deal, could work out a deal with Jeremy Guthrie before they go to a hearing on Monday, and they had better not sign Manny Ramirez.

Bragging

So I have a question… I have courtside VIP tickets tonight to see Blake Griffen at the Verizon Center, BYAHHHHHHH food/beer included.

My question is, MD/UNC plays at 4 so I have to watch it downtown and I don’t know the best sports bar to go watch it out near the Verizon Center. Anyone know where MD fans might be huddled up for the game?

(I know the lead-in was incredibly douchey, but I’m pumped)

Will work for Recs.

I haven't been there in a long time

How far is it on the metro? The time window is terrible because MD plays at 4, and I want to be at the Verizon Center by 6-6:15

Will work for Recs.

20 30 min

from cp metro to Chinatown. Cornerstone will undoubtedly have a bunch of terps fans. plus some good food prices during happy hr

Ahhhh, too far.

My time constraints are razor thin. I need to be able to be in the Verizon Center like 10 minutes after the game ends.

Will work for Recs.

I'd say you should just pick a bar in Chinatown until Wiz game time approaches.

Are you suppose

to tip pizza delivery drivers the same percentage as waiters/waitresses?

by Michael18 on Feb 4, 2012 2:05 PM EST reply actions

fuckkkkk No.

2 or 3 bucks is acceptable

by mdterps0325 on Feb 4, 2012 2:43 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

What the fuck are you talking about?

No it isn’t. 2 or 3 bucks is in no way an acceptable tip for a pizza delivery driver. Not unless you only ordered a $10 pizza. Remember they have to drive from the place to your house and they are often required to pay for their own gas and drive their own cars; the pizza place usually doesn’t provide them with company cars or reimburse their gas costs (some do, but not many).

20% is an acceptable tip for a pizza delivery driver. Tip them more than that and you’ll be making sure that when you place an order, you’ll be the first house they visit to drop off your food, so you’ll get it faster and hotter than if you’re a shitty tipper. Only tip $2 on a $30 order and you’ll make sure that your pizza will get there 45 minutes later at the end of their run, because fuck you for being a shitty tipper.

by Holymittens on Feb 4, 2012 3:24 PM EST up reply actions

When I delivered, I expected a 10% tip.

I also expected that someone would not pay if it took 45 minutes to get there and it was lukewarm.

by crawdaddy on Feb 4, 2012 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

10 sounds right

if you think they deserve a waiters tip then we don’t have much to argue about cause I totally disagree

by mdterps0325 on Feb 4, 2012 3:48 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

I delivered pizzas too

and anyone who didnt tip 15-20% was a cheap bastard, imo.

Dont know how it was where you worked, but I worked for a mom and pop pizza shop. I got paid under minimum wage and had to pay for my own gas and drive my own car. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for deliveries to take 45 mins or more (we would be up front about it when they placed the order) because we rarely had more than one driver at a time. Furthermore, as a driver, we were expected to work the carryout counter and help in the kitchen.

So yeah, if someone felt like 10% was a reasonable amount to tip… 1st: fuck them, and 2nd: enjoy having me deliver your food last as much as possible.

I guess if you are talking about dominos which is a big operation and can probably send a guy out on 4 or 5 deliveries within a very small geographic area, maybe… MAYBE 10% is OK.

Also… if it’s snowing so bad that you wouldn’t go out on the roads to get to work… tip 50%

by brek on Feb 4, 2012 5:45 PM EST up reply actions

Ma and Pa place…I got minimum wage plus tips.

by crawdaddy on Feb 4, 2012 7:58 PM EST up reply actions

and you guys always got your deliveries out in 45 or less?

Cooking a pizza alone takes 12 minutes to cook plus 5 minutes of prep time. In addition to one driver, we only had one cook most of the time. I just don’t see how you would expect someone to not pay if it was 45 minutes or longer to be delivered. Did you guys have a fleet of drivers? Deliver to a small geographic area?

by brek on Feb 4, 2012 10:38 PM EST up reply actions

I got a $10 dollar

pizza and I gave a $5 dollar tip to the delivery driver. Good tipper = me.

2 things to that

1) I am usually paying between 10 and 15 on pizza not feeding a whole family.
2) I know people who got 2 dollars per deliver from their company for gas plus minimum wage. which ends up making it quite easy to rake a waiter like salary for the night, which I consider horseshit

by mdterps0325 on Feb 4, 2012 3:47 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

I also feel like you should

pay more depending on where you’re located. If you live on a tiny rowhome street in the city I think you should tip more as it’s harder from them to get to your house.

I usually tip 5 bucks

it doesn’t really matter how much the order cost—getting it to your door is roughly the same (unless it’s 4-5 izzas and bnch of cokes).

and that goes the same, whether it’s pizzas or thai food, or italian.
