Couple days ago in his "School of Roch" blog, Roch Kubatko gave us some more insight into the situation with Brian Roberts: http://www.masnsports.com/school_of_roch/2012/03/roberts-more-encouraged-with-each-passing-day.html
All indications are that this guy is not even close. The team photos posted on CamdenChat a while back were a bad sign, but hey, I don't take good photos either. What's more concerning is that he can't even take the field. Brian explained some of his recent baseball activities which include spending some time in the cage and primarily, watching the game from the dugout. WATCHING.
I have to wonder, what it's like to be one of the other players that sees Brian Roberts sitting there most of the day, staring off into space. It really can't be good for everyone to observe this when there are so many other difficult issues that the team will have to face (i.e. losing, bad ownership, poor home attendance etc.).
We'll are all grateful to Brian for his contributions over the years and it is truly sad that he can't play his position anymore. But having Brian's face in the place just because we have to pay him those big bucks is not worth it. How about letting him go home, and see where he's at in 2013 rather than have him linger around. This year, it's just more depression for the team to overcome.
