If we have enough people interested, I would be willing to organize a Home Run Derby League for Camden Chat. Reply in the comments if you are interested, and be sure to indicate whether or not you would definitely be in.
The rules are pretty simple. Everyone picks 7 sluggers from the MLB universe. Do not let your "team" exceed 158 total Home Runs from last year's stats. The same player can be picked by multiple people, but there are no add/drops and no injury replacements. Those 7 players are yours for the entire season.
Everyone pays an entry fee (I would suggest $50), and there are prizes awarded for the most total home runs each month, and a grand prize to the overall winner at the end of the season. If there is enough money we can also add more prizes, like a prize for most home runs at the All Star Break, or a prize for picking the individual player with the most home runs at the end of the season. Prize totals would depend on the amount of people, but we would allocate about 1/3 of the money for monthly prizes and 2/3 for the grand prize (Example: 10 people x $50 each = $500 pot. $25 to the winner of each month and $350 to the overall winner.
I would create a Google doc to keep track of everything that we could perhaps link to on the CC website.
I would need to have everyone's picks (and hopefully money) by next Wednesday, April 4th (First Opening Day game - Cardinals/Marlins). It's unrealistic to have everyone's picks by the time the Tokyo series between the M's and A's starts this Wednesday. I also doubt anyone would be picking anyone from these teams, but I will allow players from the M's and A's to be picked, so long as they do not hit a ridiculous amount of homers in the Tokyo series (as determined by the general consensus).
