Hi, first-time poster here and long-time O's fan; grew up in Baltimore back in the glory days of the late '60's and 70's. Anyway, i just wanted to say thank you to the Orioles organization and especially Dan Duquette. My mom has worked as an usher at O's games for 25 years, and she (along with other ushers reaching the quarter century mark as well as her partner Gordon Huggins who has 50 years in!!!) were honored at the park Wednesday night.
They all were given fully catered skyboxes for the night, tickets for family, etc, very nice rings and Gordon threw out the first pitch. In addition, Dan Duquette took the time to come in, introduce himself and personally thank each of them for their years of service to the club. My mom was very touched by this - apparently there hasn't always been much of an "outreach" effort on the part of the club towards some of the lower-rung employees, let's just say. So for him to make the effort was special for her and the other ushers being honored.
So, once again, thanks to the O's and Mr. Duquette for making my mom and her fellow long-time ushers feel appreciated and valuable to the club. Really made me happy to see her get recognized for all the deication she's put in over the years.
