Adam Jones, son.
Who's hot and who's not for the Baltimore Orioles:
| Rotation | ||
Jake Arrieta | Sparkling start on Friday in Washington. Allowed just 6 hits and 1 run while striking out 9 (in 7 innings). |
Wei-Yin Chen | Fairly solid start against the Yankees in game 2 of the series, but got absolutely shelled by the Nationals over the weekend. Lasted just 4.1 innings and allowed 6 runs, including a home run to Stephen Strasburg. |
Jason Hammel | Seems possible that the knee injury is still bother him. In both starts this week, failed to get beyond the 5th inning. Allowed 4 ER in each and didn't seem to have solid control. |
Tommy Hunter | Like Chen, started the week with a solid start before getting pounded in the second outing. |
Brian Matusz | Not the prettiest of starts, but it got the job done. |
| Bullpen | ||
Luis Ayala | Blew a lead in New York and coughed up a few hits with inherited runners in what turned out to be a pretty close game against Washington. |
Dana Eveland | Reasonable in the long relief role. |
Kevin Gregg | Actually seemed like he was heading in the right direction before yesterday's outing. |
Jim Johnson | Allowed a ninth inning homer to Ryan Zimmerman on Saturday against the Nationals, but still perfect in save opportunities. |
Darren O'Day | Over 4 innings of relief and allowed just 1 hit. |
Troy Patton | Somewhat inconsistent, but generally gets the job done. ER from last night's game came on a somewhat uncharacteristic defense fail from Wieters. |
Pedro Strop | Continues to pitch very well in the setup/fill-in closer role. |
| Lineup | ||
Xavier Avery | Still searching for his first home run, but got on base in every game he played in over the past week. |
Robert Andino | Stuck in a bit of a slump and saw his average drop from .285 to .263 |
Wilson Betemit | Like Andino, watched his BA drop a handful of points, but added a clutch home run in game one of the KC series. |
Chris Davis | Nine for twenty with a homer over the past 7 days. That'll do. |
Luis Exposito | Not likely to get much in the way of playing time, but hopefully he can add a hit or two when he does actually play. |
Ryan Flaherty | Saw extremely limited playing time over the past week. Did not reach base. |
Bill Hall | Didn't hit much, but got on base in 3 of his 4 games this past week via the walk. |
J.J. Hardy | Pretty solid clip for the week and had an extra base hit of all three varieties. |
Nick Johnson | Not awful for a bench player, but probably needs to hit more in order to stick around. |
Adam Jones | Currently knocking the crap out of the ball. Hope this continues. |
Nick Markakis | Hit multiple home runs....in the same week! No, really! |
Steve Tolleson | Two for six with a double in two games. Not much to see here. |
Matt Wieters | Slumping pretty hard as well as making some unusual defensive errors. Although, as O'sfan21 pointed out, his OPS just now dipped below .800 for the season |
