Camdencast Episode 36 - Playoff Fever

Playoff fever is sweeping over Baltimore as a result of the play of the Orioles, and Andrew and I are not immune to this strange and exotic strain of the disease. Fresh off surviving a haunted hotel, Andrew shares his visit to the Baseball Tonight set, I talk about a random encounter with Orioles fans in the wild, and we get to pondering the worth of the newest Oriole, Joe Saunders.

From the comment box, a question from hookstrapped about the return of Jason Hammel - along with a plea about questions about the next offseason. We don't want questions about next season! The Orioles are fun right now. Let's focus on them.

After that, a preview of the upcoming Chicago White Sox series. The White Sox are a team that's probably better than the Orioles, as we go over. Three of the four pitching matchups seem to favor the Sox - can the O's salvage a split? They need at least that much in the four games to hang on. The Yankees loom farther in the distance. There is no letting off the gas. All the games matter.

Plus we just had to talk about the trade between Boston and Los Angeles - and specifically the impact it might have on the O's games against the Red Sox as the season closes. And since Andrew's favorite Oriole Mike Mussina was inducted into the Orioles Hall of Fame, we have a bit to say about that too. Along the way, I make a bad joke and we wrap up by trying to find something that isn't depressing to talk about, finding ourselves getting a little philosophical.

The podcast has once again been enhanced (I hope) by Eric, aka CCer OriolesOptimist, who has provided the intro, break spots and the mailbag as well. Many thanks to Eric for being a big fan enough to want to help us add something to the show. If you have any feedback about this stuff, please let us know - Eric is open to doing some tweaks.

Anything else you think about the show, we'd also love to hear. We've come a long way from where we started but we know there's still more we could do better as well. Next week's show will be posted on September 4 (a Tuesday) due to the Labor Day holiday weekend. Take care until then! We'll be back.
