O's Highlights From the MLB.com Video Archives

Memories of days gone by

Major League Baseball added a bunch of video highlights to their archive. This is a fantastic development since MLB is known to be rather draconian in it's enforcement of copyright with regard to videos posted on the internet. Which is rather unfortunate when one wants to relive a cherished memory or just kill some time on YouTube. But such first-world problems have now been somewhat lessened, as a number of Orioles related game clips are now available for one's viewing pleasure at MLB.com. Here are a few of them, both pleasurable and not so.

1992 was Mike Mussina's first full season. It was also, possibly, his best. 241 IP of 2.54 ERA baseball; good for 7.9 bWAR, his highest career mark. This was his signature performance of that season.

Brady Anderson hit nearly 1/4 of his career 210 home runs in 1996 alone. This is the 50th of those. Musta been the sideburns. They were so dreamy!

Bo Jackson may well be the greatest pure athlete of the 20th century.

Super-athlete Centerfielders sure like to make highlight catches vs. the O's

Roberto Clemente was pretty much the reason the O's did not win back-to-back World Series in 1971. He absolutely demolished the Birds.

There were two pitchers I really did not like as a kid: Wilson Alvarez and Juan Nieves. Neither was particularly good. But both threw no-hitters vs. the O's. That's as good a reason as any not to like some player, I think.

Mike Mussina had a pretty good year in 1998, pitching 206.1 IP of 3.49 ERA ball; good for 4.7 bWAR. This pitch was not indicative of his season. Even Mike Trout couldn't have caught that ball.
