Forget about the ALDS. ESPN: The Mag puts the Orioles in the World Series - Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE
Some simulations are not high on the Orioles, but ESPN: The Magazine is predicting the Orioles will play in the World Series.
In what ESPN The Magazine is billing as THE ANALYTICS ISSUE, the cover of the magazine, which features a picture of Miguel Cabrera and Mike Trout, also mentions that they did the math and that the Orioles will play in the World Series.
This is an extremely bold prediction, considering that most of the statistical community is not high on the Orioles. But the magazine cover makes it clear: the Orioles will finish last, as in, they will complete their season no sooner than any other team, which could only mean they will be playing in the World Series.
ESPN does not claim the Orioles will win the World Series. That would just be ridiculous. Making it to the World Series, though? They're on the record. They did the math. The Orioles will finish last. Budget for those ALCS and World Series tickets now.
