Sunday Bird Droppings

Kevin Gausman - USA TODAY Sports

News and information about our beloved Orioles.

Bundy goes 2 innings, Orioles beat Red Sox - News -
‘‘Not nearly as nervous as last year,’’ Dylan Bundy said of his first spring training start after two relief appearances. ‘‘I'm more comfortable starting because that’s what I've done all my life. Coming out of the pen, I wasn’t nervous in spring training. In the big leagues, I came out of the pen.’’

Orioles looking further into Markakis' stiff neck | News
"I'm not going to downplay it. We'll see," Buck Showalter said of Nick Markakis' injury. "When you get something that has kind of cropped up twice, information is a good thing. ... I haven't been told anything to make me think there's a sense of urgency with that. I asked Nick about it and he goes, 'Whatever.' We'll see. It wasn't much improved today though. About the same as yesterday. It gets better as the day goes on, and when he wakes up it's real stiff."

Steve Melewski: Schoop's big game has some O's fans pondering the future for the club's infield
"Even though much of the game was played during the late night and early morning hours when some fans could not or did not watch it live, Jonathan Schoop's big game against Cuba has certainly created a buzz through the O's fanbase, a buzz that includes some fans wondering what a future Orioles infield could look like." I don't really recall anyone at my workplace or social groups discussing this at all.

Baltimore Orioles have a few pitchers with breakout potential such as Jake Arrieta - MLB - ESPN
"The Orioles didn't sign a single new player to a major league contract this winter, and even the team's trading activity merely netted them bit players like Yamaico Navarro and Trayvon Robinson." Here's the ESPN Insider article referenced yesterday in BD. No, I don't have Insider, either. But apparently it says HBGM was right to not do much.

School of Roch: Orioles will play intrasquad game on Tuesday
"Orioles manager Buck Showalter has filled one of the open dates on the Grapefruit League schedule by arranging an intrasquad game Tuesday. The club hasn't announced a time or whether it will be played at the Ed Smith Stadium complex, but it will provide innings for a handful of pitchers." Extra baseball!!!

Towson University Preemptively Called Police Before Telling The Men's Baseball And Soccer Teams They Were Cut From The Budget -
"When Towson president Maravene Loeschke told the baseball and soccer teams they were being cut yesterday, it was with minimal warning, only some of the athletes present, and "several" cops on hand." Stay classy, TU.

Larry Walker "saw Satan" in the eyes of Alfredo Aceves | HardballTalk
"Canada defeated Mexico 10-3 in today's World Baseball Classic Pool D match-up, but that wasn't the most talked-about result from the game -- it was the fracas that started in the ninth inning." You gotta read the tweet from Jon Morosi included in this article. Hilarious.
