2013 Week 6 Birds Up, O's Down (May 6-12)

Please don't be hurt! - Hannah Foslien

Who's hot and who's not for the Baltimore Orioles

Rotation
Wei-Yin Chen Please, oh please, don't be hurt. The good news? He says he thinks it's just a cramp. Considering he allowed just 2 ER in 11+ innings this week, that would be a huge loss.
Freddy Garcia Downnew_medium Four runs, all earned.
Jason Hammel Downnew_medium As if you needed another reason pitcher wins are a silly statistic, Hammel is 5-1, yet hasn't had a quality start since late April. His start this week in Minneapolis was no different. Four innings, 6 earned runs.
Steve Johnson Downnew_medium Promptly optioned back to Norfolk after getting hammered by the Twins. Four innings, four walks, 6 earned runs.
Chris Tillman Upnew_medium He's still walking too many, but at least he's getting guys out. He and Chen were the only O's starters to record quality starts this week.

Alex Burnett http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Busy riding the Chris Tillman Memorial Yo-Yo back and forth from Norfolk.
Tommy Hunter Upnew_medium Five Runs, All Earned No runs at all? Is this the same Hunter we're talking about? Indeed it is. Over nearly 5 innings of work, Hunter allowed just 1 hit while striking out five.
Jim Johnson Upnew_medium Dating back to last season, JJ has recorded 35 straight saves. Bueno!
Brian Matusz http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Started his week with a blown save, but improved as it went on.
T.J. McFarland http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Clearly has Minny's number. In 6 innings against the Twins this season, he's allowed just 3 hits and a walk - no runs.
Darren O'Day http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Mildly concerned that he's become hittable this year, but since he hasn't allowed any serious damage, maybe I'm overreacting.
Troy Patton Downnew_medium Had to pick up a few extra innings after Steve Johnson's short outing Saturday. Those didn't go so well, ballooning his ERA to 3.38 (from 2.57).
Pedro Strop Upnew_medium Are we seeing the same Strop we saw last year?
Lineup
Alexi Casilla http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Went 2-8 this week and remains in the backup role behind Flaherty.
Chris Davis http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png He's cooling off a bit after an extremely hot start. Still, he had three doubles and a homer to push his ISO up to .350 (a current career high).
Chris Dickerson Upnew_medium 3-8 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Not bad for the 5th outfielder.
Ryan Flaherty Downnew_medium Continues to play. Continues to play miserably.
J.J. Hardy Upnew_medium Seven for 24 marks his best week of the young season. Included a double, a homer, and 4 RBI.
Adam Jones http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png A 7-26 week actually brings his BA down, but that missile of a home run was pretty cool.
Manny Machado Upnew_medium Continues to mash, posting a .444 BA for the week, including 2 doubles. Tie-breaking single in the 10th on Friday was the eventual game-winning hit.
Nick Markakis Upnew_medium After a two week-long slump, Markakis responded with a 9 for 23 week. He's currently riding a streak of 4 multi-hit games.
Nate McLouth Downnew_medium Easily his worst week of the season at 4-23. A bit worrisome considering the team's other LF isn't hitting much.
Steve Pearce http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png One for three with a homer. As good as you're probably going to get from a 6th OF that only sees action once a week.
Nolan Reimold Downnew_medium A 1-11 week has his average down below .200, coupled with an OBP below .300
Chris Snyder http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png 1-3 with an RBI.
Matt Wieters Upnew_medium Like Markakis, Wieters also pulled himself out of mini-slump this week, recording 7 hits in 24 plate appearances. Those hits included 3 doubles, a homer, and 5 RBI.
