Not the ideal way to start off a roadtrip, but it happens. Mad Max is pretty good. Things should get a little easier going forward...oh, poop. Verlander goes today. Well, stranger things than the O's potentially beating a pitcher of Verlander's stature have happened I suppose. At least the Birds aren't facing some no-name, soft-tossing lefty, amirite? Then I'd be truly worried. O's are one of 5 teams with 20 road victories on the season. The other 4 (Sox, A's, Cardinals, and DBacks) each lead their respective divisions. Though the Tigers do have the 2nd best record in the bigs at home. Anyway, knock 'em dead Zach.
Rays & Sox play a double-dip today. Must have been one of those ultra rare 'scheduled' double-headers, as they play 2 today, 1 tomorrow, and then both clubs move on to their next series starting Thursday. The sad-sack Dodgers visit the Bronx for a quickie 2 game set. Be nice if the boys in blue decided to sack up and give it to the Yankees. Would also be cool if Vin Scully had traveled with the club to call these two games, but alas.
Steve Melewski: Report: O's will call up Ishikawa
Well, that's a bit unexpected. As Steve surmises though, it may well just be a delaying tactic used while MiGo is on paternity leave to seek out any potential trade partner for Ishi.
Inevitably, this question will arise in the comments section. So here is a preemptive 'No one reads the links!' rant.
Writer doesn't believe the O's success thus far is sustainable. Let the rabblerabblerabble commence.
Orioles have MLB's 3rd-largest attendance increase | Comcast SportsNet Baltimore
Good show, Birdland. Now let's try and improve that number even more.
GCL action commences this Friday. T'would be nice, though certainly not critical, to have Harvey in camp from the get go.
Easy to keep the cost/Win low when the bulk of the team is either pre-Arb or still in the Arbitration cycle.
And after making a spectacular catch he would invariably do something exciting, mystifying, and anxiety-inducing.
On this date in 2007, Sam Perlozzo was canned and Dave Trembley took over the Managerial position on an interim basis. Last year, R.A. Dickey tossed a 1-hit gem vs. the O's which obviously broke the O's batters minds and threw the club into an offensive tailspin for the next few weeks. Or something like that. Happy Birthday to Bill James!
