Happy Days - Greg Fiume

Because it's fun to dream upon what some of these kids might become some day!

Norfolk 2, Indianapolis (Pirates) 3, 11 innings

Booooooo, Andrew_G. Norfolk put 14 hits on the board but only managed 2 runs thanks to a spiffy 3-17 with RISP. Jason Pridie, Travis Ishikawa, and Buck Britton each had 2 hit nights. LJ Hoes and Xavier Avery each had 3 hit nights and a Stolen Base to boot. Jair Jurjenns was scheduled to start, but was scratched due to a finger injury of some sort. A whole bunch of poo pitched in his stead. Mark Hendrickson went 3 innings, allowing but 1 hit and 0 runs while K'ing 4. That's neat. Old friend Felix Pie went 0-4, w/ a BB and a K.

New Britain (Twins) 11, Bowie 8 (Game 1)

LOL! Bowie managed to put up a 7 spot in the 1st inning but still lost. That takes some manner of skill. Or suck. Poh-ta-toe, Po-tah-toe. Whatever. (3B) Ty Kelly went 1-4, w/ a BB, a Double, and an Error (fielding). (RF) Henry Urrutia went 1-5, w/ a Double and 2 RsBI along with an Outfield Assist from throwing out a runner at Home. (1B) Brandon Waring is not a prospect, but he does crush a lot. He hit a tape measure blast per Baltimore Sports and Life's Tucker Blair:

(CF) Steve Bumbry added a HR of his own, his 4th since joining Bowie a little over 2 weeks ago. Mike Wright (whose first name is actually Dennis) had his worst start of the season, going 3.1 IP and allowing 7 H (1 HR), 7 R (5 ER), 2 BBs, 1 HBP, and 3 Ks. Meh. It happens. I still like him a lot.

New Britain (Twins) 4, Bowie 6 (Game 2, 7 innings)

The Twins really need to promote Miguel Sano to AA so I can see him in action. Curses on them for not doing so already. PBR crush Ty Kelly went 2-3, w/ a BB and a SB. Henry Urrutia also went 2-3. Steve Bumbry has taken a liking to AA pitching. He hit his 2nd HR of the day and 5th in AA (9th overall on the season). Newly promoted Tyler Wilson had a rather nice AA debut, going 5 IP, 3 H (1 HR), 2 ER, 2 BBs, and 6 Ks. I got to see him in action last weekend, in his last start w/ Frederick prior to his promotion. He definitely impressed me with his athleticism and, for lack of a better term, 'pitchability'. He doesn't have Plus stuff, but he makes the most out of what he does have, and he left me with the impression that he will be a major leaguer at some point. Whether that's as a Starter or as a Reliever is yet to be determined.

Frederick 7, Potomac (Nats) 8 (Game 1, 7 innings)

Brady Wager had a rather crappy debut with the Keys, going 4 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BBs, 5 Ks, 1 Error (throwing), and 1 WP. Ross Detwiler pitched a rehab outing for Potomac. Always interesting to see how minor leaguers handle major league quality pitching. (DH) Nick Delmonico struck out twice vs. Detwiler, though he did hit a HR and drew an Intentional Walk later on. (1B) Christian Walker continues his hot hitting, going 3-4 (1-2 vs. Detwiler), w/ 2 RsBI. ( C ) Michael Ohlman also managed a 3-4 night (2-2 vs. Detwiler).

Frederick 3, Potomac (Nats) 4 (Game 2, 7 innings)

AJ Cole carved up the Keys to the tune of 11 Ks over 6 IP. (1B) Christian Walker accounted for 2 of those, and added a 3rd one later on vs. a relief pitcher. (3B) Nick Delmonico hit another HR, his 10th of the season, and drew 2 BBs. (DH) Michael Ohlman went 0-2, w/ 2 BBs.

Lakewood (Phillies), Delmarva (Postponed: Wet Grounds)

Booooo

DSL Twins 3, DSL O's1 9

(CF) Alexander Mercedes went 1-4, w/ a run scored. (RF) Rochendrick Alexander went 2-4, w/ a Triple and 2 runs scored. ( C ) Junior Tavares went 3-4, w/ 2 RsBI and 1 run scored. (RHP) Wendell Floranus went 5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 Ks, and 1 WP with an 8:1 GO:FO ratio.

DSL O's2 12, DSL Brewers 9

(CF) Daniel Franco went 1-4, w/ 1 BB, 2 SBs, and 1 Run. (SS) Robertico Medina and (3B) Yeridolfo Lizardo each hit HRs. Medina also drew a BB and a stole a base. (CF) Carlos Laureano went 4-5, w/ a 3 run HR and 2 runs. Some pitchers threw the ball. None of which particularly distinguished themselves.
