Norfolk lost 5-3. Steve Johnson gave up 3 ER in 5 IP on 5 hits (1 HR), striking out 5, walking none, with a GB/FB of 1/4. Henry Urrutia goes 0-4 with a K. Jonathan Schoop went 1-4 with a K. Former Mariner farmhand Alex Liddi went 2-4 with a homer and a K.
The Baysox rallied late and won 4-1. Eduardo Rodriguez had a second consecutive strong outing, giving up 1 ER in 6 IP on 5 hits and a walk, striking out 7 with a GB/FB of 4/3. The Eastern League has not been as kind as the Carolina League, but if he can finish strong you have to think that would be huge going into next year. Oliver Drake tossed up another scoreless frame, giving up a walk in one inning, striking out 1, but not allowing a hit or a run. Caleb Joseph went 2-4 with a double.
Frederick lost 5-3. Zach Davies gave up 1 ER in 6 IP on 9 hits, but with a K/BB of 8/0 and a GB/FB of 5/5. Michael Ohlman went 0-1 with a K as a PH, and Dariel Alvarez was used as a defensive replacement. Wilson Betemit did go 1-4 with a K.
Delmarva lost a crazy one, 11-10. Gregory Lorenzo went 2-7, but struck out twice, and was picked off and caught stealing once. Adrian Marin continues to not play. Joel Hutter, who is hitting 231 on the year, went 3-6 with a double and two bombs. Mychal Givens gave up 2 ER in 2 innings on 4 hits (1 HR), with a 3/0 K/BB.
Aberdeen lost 1-0. Hunter Harvey gave up an unearned run in 4.1 IP, giving up 4 hits and a walk, striking out 5 with GB/FB of 7/1. Given that a lot of collegians go from the draft to the NY Penn League, this has to be an encouraging start. Friend of the blog, Dylan Rheault, went 4.2 scoreless, giving up 2 hits and a walk, striking out 6 with a 6/1 GB/FB. Mike Yastrzemski went 2-4 with a K. Trey Mancini went 0-4. Hector Veloz went 0-2 with a walk and did not strike out.
