The Orioles farmhands split their games Thursday. Brandon Waring hit three bombs, Luc Rennie had another solid performance and Xavier Avery continued to play better, preparing for a possible September call-up.

Norfolk lost 2-0. Josh Stinson gave up 2 ER in 5 IP on 2 hits (1 HR) but 4 walks, striking out 5 with a GB/FB of 5/2. Jonathan Schoop went 1-3 with a K. Henry Urrutia went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. Xavier Avery went 2-4 with a double and a SB. While he is OPSing 624 on the season, he is finishing strong, OPSing 785 in his last 10 games. I'm sure the Reds have noticed.

Bowie won 13-1. Jason Hammel went 2.2 scoreless, giving up 3 hits and striking out 3, while managing to hit two batters. Clay Schrader went two scoreless, allowing a hit and walking two, while striking out 3. After mashing for a few weeks in the Carolina League, Dariel Alvarez got his first hit in the Eastern League, going 1-4 with a K. Caleb Joseph went 1-4 with a homer, a walk and a K. 26 y/o Brandon Waring, friend of the blog, went 3-5 with 3 homers and a K.

Frederick got blown out, losing 10-1. Brady Wager gave up 8 ER in 3.2 IP on 11 hits (1 HR) and 3 walks, hitting a man and striking out 3. I'm sure that's gonna stick in his crawl all off-season. Michael Ohlman went 1-4 with a double and 2 strikeouts. Trent Mummey went 0-3 with a walk and a K.

Delmarva won 5-1. Luc Rennie had another nice performance, giving up 1 ER in 5 IP on 4 hits and a walk, striking out 4 with a GB/FB of 3/6. Adrian Marin went 2-5 with a double and a K. Ryan Flaherty and Lucas Herbst each went 1-4 with a double and a K. Gregory Lorenzo went 2-5 with a double, two strikeouts and two stolen bases.

Aberdeen won a pitcher's duel, 1-0. Jimmy Yacabonis went 2 IP, giving up a hit and a walk, while striking out 2. Mike Yastrzemski went 0-3. Trey Mancini went 1-3 with a K. Ronarsy Ledesma went 0-3 with a K. 22 y/o Conor Bierfeldt, a 29th rounder of a college in Connecticut, went 1-3 with a homer and two strikeouts. He's quietly had a decent season for the iBirds.

The GCL Birds lost 5-2. Chance Sisco went 2-4 with 2 strikeouts. Andres Aguilar went 0-4.
