Week 22 Birds Up, O's Down (2 - 8 September)

It's Danny Valencia - Rob Carr

Who's hot and who's not for the Baltimore Orioles

Pitchers
Zach Britton Downnew_medium Couldn't even manage three innings during Wednesday's spot start.
Wei-Yin Chen Upnew_medium Back to Chen-sational after a few poor outings, although he still hasn't figured out how to get deep into ballgames.
Scott Feldman Upnew_medium You want to know who has been good lately?  Scott Feldman's been good.  Two earned runs in his last three starts (21 innings).
Kevin Gausman Downnew_medium Called upon to mop up Britton's poor start, but ended up giving the tied game right back to Cleveland.
Miguel Gonzalez Upnew_medium Couldn't beat the Yankees, but had better luck against the White Sox.  Much better luck.
Jason Hammel http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png He's back, but in the pen for now.
Tommy Hunter Downnew_medium Getting a down arrow this week for Saturday's performance in Chicago.
Jim Johnson http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Three innings, just one hit allowed.  Only one save though.....
Steve Johnson http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Wouldn't have even known he was back on the team if I hadn't read the box score closely.
Brian Matusz http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png One inning of scoreless relief.
T.J. McFarland Upnew_medium 3.2 innings without a hit allowed
Bud Norris Downnew_medium Should be on high alert in case somebody wants to put Hammel back in the rotation.
Darren O'Day http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Two scoreless innings of relief.
Troy Patton http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Apparently not much use for lefty specialists against Chicago or Cleveland
Francisco Rodriguez http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
Josh Stinson http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png One inning of scoreless relief.  I think I said that already....
Chris Tillman Downnew_medium Appeared determined to walk every batter possible, although he did limit the damage to just 4 runs.
Catchers
Steve Clevenger http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png I don't really see the point of having three catchers on the team, even with the expanded rosters.
Chris Snyder http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Got a start and two ABs before being lifted for Wieters in an extra inning game.  Good call because Wieters ended up with the GW hit.
Matt Wieters Upnew_medium A solid week with two homers and a huge game-winning hit.  I also personally watched him frame a pitch for what appears to be the first time this season.  Naturally, it was called a ball, but hey....baby steps.
Infielders
Wilson Betemit http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Still hitless this year.
Alexi Casilla http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Received just a handful of PAs on the week
Chris Davis Downnew_medium Yes, he hit another homer, but his approach at the plate recently has been terrible.
Ryan Flaherty http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Two hits....both doubles
J.J. Hardy Upnew_medium Not much in the power department, but Hardy delivered nine hits.
Manny Machado Downnew_medium Only major contribution to the week was his game-tying homer against Cleveland.
Brian Roberts Downnew_medium Four hits and all four went for extra bases (including two homers).  B-Rob is probably the last guy you'd expect that from.
Jonathan Schoop http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png DNP
Danny Valencia Upnew_medium Limited week, but it was a good one:  5-10 with a homer, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI.
Outfielders
Chris Dickerson Downnew_medium TOOTBLAN
Adam Jones http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png Average-ish average....but three homers!  Topped 100 RBI for the first time in his career.
Nick Markakis Downnew_medium Sigh.
Nate McLouth Upnew_medium Six hits (two homers) is what passes as a good week for Nate.  He threw somebody out at the plate, too!
Michael Morse Downnew_medium Yea, he's totally better than Markakis.
Henry Urrutia http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/217757/dash.png 1-2
