Whenever we suffer a personal loss, the world keeps going on. It is much the same with Orioles baseball. They lost, and it was awful to have to watch it go that way. No one is going to stop baseball and have a pity party for us. Baseball teams lose in the postseason every year and the postseason keeps going on. So it is with tonight, when NLCS Game 5 will take place.
How can we summon any interest in the Cardinals playing the Giants when the Orioles got swept yesterday? Maybe we don't really have any interest. It's hard to root for one of these boring teams to beat the Royals, even considering the Royals beat the Orioles, because between these two NL teams the farthest away World Series title is 2011. They are neither underdogs nor interesting stories of dominance. They are just teams who happened to win the World Series recently and now one of them will make it back again.
There's also some Thursday Night Football or whatever. The Patriots and the Jets? Meh. But we all have our fantasy team to consider.
The NLCS game is on Fox Sports 1.
