Jeremy Guthrie is about to pitch in the World Series. What a weird sentence to type. T-shirt hullabaloo notwithstanding, I am happy for him. The guy toiled for some bad Orioles teams for a long time and then bounced around to a couple of different teams before finding himself in the midst of whatever deviltry the Royals have conjured up this season. He's earned his way here.
It all worked out okay for Baltimore, anyway. Jason Hammel was an important part of the 2012 team, and Matt Lindstrom, also in the trade, was traded for Wild Card hero Joe Saunders.
It's the World Series and I'll watch because it's the World Series, but it's still hard to get excited about it after the Orioles came so close and then fell short due to a few bad bounces and a few other bad pitches.
