Today was pretty much like every other day this winter on the east coast- freezing temps, more snow on the way and another free agent signs somewhere other than Baltimore. Today it was AJ Burnett signing with the Phillies. Now I'm not beside myself that a late 30's pitcher who seems to only be effective in the National league didn't become our 4th number 3 starter, but like the title reads: DO SOMETHING. At this point in mid February I'm literally at the point where if my beloved O's signed anyone from Vance Worley to bringing back Mike Boddicker, I'd be thrilled. Maybe just to confirm that someone in the front office is showing up for work each day and the franchise has an interest in doing something this winter. Now granted leaving a mid 70's- 80 win team as is might seem smart to some, but those are the same guys who are left scratching their heads every August wondering what wrong once again.
I've got to go outside now and shovel for what feels like the 50th time or so this winter so I'll keep it short and sweet. What I wouldn't give to come inside just once and during the hour long thawing out period turn on ESPN and read the breaking news that someone-ANYONE signed with our O's. It may give me a reason to believe that Spring will one day actually arrive and baseball-more importantly Oriole baseball is not to far away. So I ask you Orioles for the sake of what is left of my sanity-please please please DO SOMETHING.
