The Purpose Of Delmon Young

The question has been asked, why do the orioles have Delmon Young? This is a good question since they do posses David Lough, the everyday guy, and Steve Pearce, who has not had many at bats this season due to Young's presence. Some say Young just takes up a roster spot and that there is no need for him on the roster. Now I am not going to infuse my opinion to much I am just going to state the reasons I think he is on the team. Number one is because of his bat,at least in respect to facing southpaw pitchers. This is according to Ned Rice, who is a stat guru with the team. Last year the O's had Danny Valencia to bat against lefties, in the offseason they traded him to KC for Lough. I think though that his experience is great for a young locker room and there is no denying his experience. Some say Steve Pearce is better, but I will leave that up to you to decide.
