Norfolk 1 Rochester (Twins) 8
Scott Diamond shined on for 6 innings, shutting down the Tides offense for the most part. Quinten Berry knocked two hits and drew a walk. Brett Wallace hit a double and drove in the Tides' only run. Steve Clevenger went 0 for 4. Nick Additon went 6 for the Tides, but gave up 2 dingers and 5 ERs.
Altoon (Pirates) 6 Bowie 7
Every Baysock in the lineup notch at least 1 hit, save for Michael Ohlman who took an 0 for 4. Christian Walker was 1 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. Dariel Alvarez did likewise while also picking up an Outfield Assist. Regular readers will know I'm a fan of those. Anthony Vasquez got knocked around for 3 HRs and 6 ERs over 5.1 IP, but the 'pen picked up the slack and shut down the Curve over the final 3.2 IPs. Oliver Drake, we salute you for earning your 20th Save of the season. September call up, possibility?
Frederick 10 Potomac (Nats) 9
The Keys put up an 8 spot in the 1st inning, but let the Nats methodically climb back to tie the the game at 9 in the 7th. Matt Hobgood allowed 4 ER over his 2 innings of relief. Wildness was his bug-a-boo, as he issued 3 walks, 4 wild pitches, and 1 hit by pitch. Adding insult to injury, runners stole two bases while he was on the mound. oof.
Mike Yastrzemski Tucker Nathens each went 2 for 2 in the 1st, hitting a single and a double. Michael Burgess went 3 for 5 with a double and a solo HR in the 9th to put the Keys on top. Dude's 25, so not a prospect, but he ranks in the top 5 for Carolina League in AVG, top 15 in OPB, and is 2nd in SLG.
Delmarva 9 Hagerstown (Nats) 5
Chance Sisco is not long for Eastern Shore livin', as he went 3 for 5 with a Ribby and 2 runs scored. When you come into the game with all of your slash line numbers over the past 10 games starting with a '4', that's pretty good. He ranks 2nd in SAL average, he's top 5 in OBP, and top 10 in OPS. He could find himself in Frederick before long. Creede Simpson has some of the best raw power in the O's org, and he blasted his 8th HR of the season. After a truly horrendous start to the season, Luc Rennie has now put together consecutive solid starts. 6 IP and 3 ER here. He allowed 4 hits, walked 2 and K'd 3.
GCL Red Sox 11 GCL O's 8
Josh Hart went 3 for 5 with a triple and a stolen base. I wonder when he'll be promoted back to Delmarva? Their offense could use him with the recent promotions of lil' Yaz and Mancini. Daniel Franco went 1 for 5, but stole a base and scored twice. Jomar Reyes went 2 for 3 with 2 walks, and 2 RBI. But he also had 2 errors playing the hot corner. Alex Mercedes went 1 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI, and an Outfield Assist. Franciso Jimenez was rocked for 8 hits and 6 ERs over 4 IP.
