Trading For A Pitcher

The Orioles (55-45, 1st in the AL East) have gone 3-3 since returning from the All-Star break. They have just won a series against the Los Angeles Angels (60-40, 2nd in the AL West) and fought valiantly against the Oakland Athletics (62-38, 1st in the AL West). Now tonight they begin a series against the Seattle Mariners (53-48, 3rd in the AL West). One thing that can be said is that the Orioles have seen their fair share of postseason style of pitching. They have faced Jeff Samardzija (3-8, 2.91 ERA), Jason Hammel (8-7, 3.35 ERA) , Sonny Gray (11-3, 2.72 ERA) and Jered Weaver (11-6, 3.36 ERA). The ongoing theme is pitching. How can the Orioles stack up with teams with their pitching? One way to solve that issue is to acquire starting pitcher Chris Sale who is 9-1 with a 2.03 ERA. What players would you throw into the mix to acquire someone of his caliber? Do you entertain throwing in one of the three top pitching prospects that the Orioles have with Kevin Gausman (4-3, 4.04 ERA), Hunter Harvey, or Dylan Bundy? Would you give up a good young player in Jonathan Schoop (.216 BA, 8 HR, 26) who has so much power potential at second base? Or do you go get a solid pitcher like Ian Kennedy (8-9, 3.66 ERA) who you would only have to trade Miguel Gonzalez (5-5, 3.91 ERA) and a low-level prospect for? These are the questions that Peter Angelos, Dan Duquette and Buck Showalter will have to answer before the trade deadline. There are so many possibilities, only one can wonder.
