Pitchers | ||
Brad Brach | Faced all of one batter and struck him out on 3 pitches.
Zach Britton | Best week of the season (to date)? Four innings, 7 Ks. No hits, no walks. That works.
Wei-Yin Chen | Tossed a season high 8 innings and allowed just 5 hits. Struck out three and did not allow an earned run.
Kevin Gausman | Three walks and seven hits are not ideal, but allowed just 1 run in 6.2 innings. Also induced a season high 10 GB outs.
Miguel Gonzalez | Allowed only 3 ER in 13.2 innings pitched (two starts). Like Gausman, the walks and the hits are not ideal, but he kept himself out of trouble.
Tommy Hunter | The runs charged to Hunter were the result of Matusz, but still, you can't walk 3 guys over an inning plus and just hope for the best.
Brian Matusz | Okay, he's having a decent July. Gave up some inherited runs in games that were ultimately decided by a run, but he's actually been okay beyond that.
T.J. McFarland | He's still the mop up guy, but that's not really the role he deserves. He's been quietly effective and now owns a 3.07 ERA for the season.
Bud Norris | Also had a two start week, but didn't post the results that MiGo did. First start was excellent, as he held the Angels to just 1 ER in 6+ innings (8 Ks), but in the second, his command was not as sharp.
Darren O'Day | The home run yesterday was killer, but you'd be hard-pressed to find any middle reliever who's been that much better than O'Day.
Chris Tillman | Came away with a no-decision in a game where he allowed just 1 ER in 6 innings. Nothing flashy (2 BB, 3 K), but effective.
Ryan Webb | Also faced just one batter, thanks to some longer starts from the SPs.
Catchers | ||
Nick Hundley | Handling of the pitching staff aside, these 1-12 weeks are probably helping to fuel those Kurt Suzuki rumors.
Caleb Joseph | 5-15 with 2 doubles. Currently riding a 4 game hit streak.
Infielders | ||
Chris Davis | Kind of turrible, but he did walk 3 times and that 10th inning homer was huge. Huge!
Ryan Flaherty | Got some extra playing time thanks to Machado's back and responded with just 2 hits in 19 trips.
J.J. Hardy | Just 5 hits in 28 trips. Three doubles, but his SLG is dipping even further away from his career average.
Manny Machado | Sat out most of the week with a balky back.
Jonathan Schoop | Still over-matched at the plate, but hey, that homer was nice.
Outfielders | ||
Nelson Cruz | Only 4 hits, but one happened to be a homer off of Felix Hernandez.
Adam Jones | Had a rough series in Seattle, but came on strong late with 2 doubles
David Lough | 2-5....that's not bad!
Nick Markakis | A week similar to Hardy's, but it's somewhat more noticeable from your leadoff guy.
Steve Pearce | #teamsteve kind of disappeared with only 1 hit per series on the west coast (2 games per series).
Delmon Young | Another guy who has been quietly good this season.
Disabled List | ||
Ubaldo Jimenez | Hurt himself walking across a parking lot. Take all the time you need, Ubaldo.
Matt Wieters | No update. |
