No birthday's of note, but on this date in 1988 the O's traded away Mike Boddicker to the Red Sox (inter-division trade!) for Brady Anderson and Curt Schilling. Safe to say the O's won that trade, even if they squandered Schilling's value in the trade for Glenn Davis. In 2007, Cal Ripken Jr. is inducted into the Hall of Fame along with Tony Gwynn. 4 years ago today Buck Showalter was announced as the (soon-to-be) Manager of the Orioles. He would take over from Juan Samuel on August 3rd.
