Norfolk 7 Toledo (Cleveland) 3
Josh Stinson allowed just 2 hits and 1 ER over 5.2 IP. Christian Walker failed to reach base for the first time in AAA, going 0-4. Dariel Alvarez went 2 for 4 with a double. (SS) Ivan De Jesus went 3 or 3 and hit a 3 run HR in the 7th to blow the game open.

Zach Davies wants you to know something: he's good. The Eastern League certainly knows this by now. Over his past 8 starts, dating to June 16th, the 21 year old righty has pitched 50 innings to the tune of a 1.80 ERA. Of the 10 earned runs he has yielded in that span 8 came in two outings. He has K'd 42 and walked 12. His Swinging strike percentage is 11%. And he generates 1.11 ground balls for each fly ball he allows. So going 6 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BBs, 5 Ks, with 58 of his 90 pitches going for strikes, and a 7:2 GB:FB ratio is just another workman-like outing for him. ho hum.
Steve Hensley finished the game with 5 Ks over 3 IP. Offense support was provided courtesy of Mike Yastrzemski, who went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. Glynn Davis went 0 for 2 with a walk and a sac fly RBI. Buck Britton drove in a run with a double.
Frederick 0 Winston-Salem (White Sox) 4
Dylan Bundy looked to build off of his 6 shutout inning performance last time out. But 5 walks got the better of him, driving his pitch count up and chasing him from the game after just 4.1 IP. He did not allow a run himself while on the mound, but Jimmy Yacabonis did allow 2 inherited runners to score after coming on for Bundy in the 5th. Final line: 4.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 1 K, with a 6:1 GB:FB ratio. The offense was punch-less. Adrian Marin took and 0 for 5 with 3 Ks. Trey Mancini managed 1 base hit in 4 at bats.
Delmarva 4 Hickory (Rangers) 10
Nick Cunningham took it on the chin, allowing 10 ER in just 3+ IP, including a 5 spot in the 1st and a trey in the third. Gregory Lorenzo and Creede Simpson each had 3 hit nights for the offense. Chance Sisco took an 0 for 3, but did draw 2 walks. But 12 Ks, 11 LOB, and a 1 for 13 effort with RISP prevented the Shorebirds from ever threatening a comeback bid.
Tri-City (Astros) 1 Aberdeen 2
Ubaldo Jiminez made his first rehab start with the Ironbirds, treating the players to a steak & lobster dinner. So that's nice. He lasted 4.2 innings, allowing 5 hits, issuing 3 walks, striking out 3, chucking 1 wild pitch, and yielding 1 unearned run. He'll likely make his way southbound to Norfolk for his next start (or two?). The 'pen took over, combining for 5.1 shutout innings where they allowed just 1 hit and 3 walks. Patrick Connaughton carried 4.2 of those innings, striking out 2 along the way.
