The July 4 postponement may have been a blessing in disguise for the Orioles, who did not get into Boston until like 5am on Friday and would have had to play at 1 o'clock. Now they've been able to rest for 24 hours before facing Jon Lester and company. They'll still probably lose, because if they won that would mean they would be on a five game winning streak, and that just doesn't happen. But maybe they won't be as embarrassing about the losing.
Unrelated to any of that, here is a bit of news:
Buck said team starting to work on post-break rotation. #Orioles considering optioning pitchers to minors to get work over break.— Eduardo A. Encina (@EddieInTheYard) July 5, 2014
Boy, I wonder which Kevin Gausman will get optioned to "get work" over the All-Star Break, don't you? Speaking of Gausman, the Orioles have confirmed that he will be getting called up to start tomorrow's game.
This is the day part of a day-night doubleheader today. Manny Machado's suspension will be over for the nightcap, and the Orioles are expected to have Preston Guilmet available as the extra man for the doubleheader.
The O's will be wearing the July 4 caps for this first game of the doubleheader.
