Norfolk 1 Durham (Rays) 2
(RHP) Mike Wright has had an awful 2014 season thus far, except for his two start vs. the Durham Bulls. He held them to 1 run and 4 hits over 7 IP back in April, and in this game he put up a similar line, allowing just 2 ER via 4 hits over 6 while striking out a season high 8 batters. He did allow a solo HR that proved to be the difference in this game, but his 7 to 2 GB to FB ratio is much more encouraging sign since he has found success in the past by working his sinker to great effect. Hopefully he can take some lessons from this performance and begin to turn his Titantic of a season around over the final 2 months.
The offense did him no favors, with their lone run coming in via a Steve Clevenger sac fly. ( C ) Brian Ward went 2 for 3 and threw out the lone runner who attempted to steal. He has thrown out 47% of runners while with the Tides (9/19).
Bowie 1 Harrisburg (Nats) 5
(RHP) Zach Davies brought a 19 inning scoreless streak into this game, but that came to an abrupt end via a 3-run HR in the 4th inning. Over 4.2 IP he allowed 7 hits and 4 walks, which led to 5 runs (4 earned). Much the same as in the Tides game, the offense was unable to provide their pitcher with much in the way of run support. Dariel Alvarez plated the lone Bowie run via a sac fly. Christian Walker reached base twice, once via hit and once via walk.
Frederick 9 Salem (Red Sox) 8
The Keys put up three 3-run innings to hold off Salem. (OF) Mike Yastrzemski continues to enjoy a hot start to his time with the Keys, going 1 for 4 with a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. (OF) Glynn Davis and (1B) Trey Mancini supported Yaz with 2 for 5 nights. Mancini knocked a double and drove in 3. Those three could form a nice little threesome in Bowie next season. (RHP) Mark Blackmar allowed 4 ER over 6 IP while generating 10 groundouts to 4 flyouts. (RHP) Matt Hobgood yielded 2 ER over 1.2 innings thanks to 2 hits, 2 walks, and a wild pitch.
West Virginia (Pirates) 5 Delmarva 0
(LHP) Mitch Horacek K'd 8 and walked none over 5.2 innings while allowing 2 ER (5 R total). His 99 Ks on the season currently leads the entire Orioles organization. Just like the aforementioned Tides & Baysox though, the offense did not provide their pitcher with any cushion. (3B) Drew Dosch knocked a double and drew a walk. ( C ) Chance Sisco went 1 for 4. (OF) Josh Hart went 0 for 4 with a GIDP.
Aberdeen 2 Staten Island (Yankees) 3 (Game 1)
Aberdeen 4 Staten Island (Yankees) 1 (Game 2)
(RHP) Janser Severino allowed 2 runs (1 earned) over 5 innings in game one. But the Ironbird offense was limited to just 3 hits and 2 runs. 6'9" (LHP) Augey Bill put up 4 scoreless innings in game two. (3B) Austin Andersen went 2 for 4 with a double. (DH) Hector Veloz went 2 for 3 with a walk and his 3rd HR of the season.

(2B) Ricardo Andujar went 2 for 4 with a SB. (1B) Carlos Diaz went 0 for 4 with 2 Ks. Juan Valdez pitched 7 innings, allowing 1 run (0 ER) while striking out 5.
