Norfolk 2 Durham (Rays) 1
Dariel Alvarez popped two doubles, drew a walk, scored a run, and drove in a run. He's been on a tear of late having hit in 8 straight, with extra base hits in 4 of those. Still no AAA dingers for him though. Francisco Pegeuro added a 3 for 4 effort of his own. Josh Stinson struck out 8 over 5 solid innings, allowing just 1 ER via 3 hits and 3 walks. Ryan Webb K'd 2 in his 1 inning of relief work.
Reading (Phillies) 3 Bowie 8
Have a night, Chris Marrero! 3 for 4 with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored, he blasted an 8th inning Grand Slam to put the Baysox ahead. Michael Ohlman and Garabez Rosa each walked twice and drove in a run. Mike Yaz went 1 for 4. Nick Additon summed up the competition to the tune of 6.1 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BBs, and 3 Ks.
Frederick 2 Carolina (Cleveland) 6
Late in year 2 with Frederick (and how is it he's only in year 3 of his pro-career? Seems like he's been around since '09 at this point) it seems Jason Esposito has figured out how to hit A+ level pitching. A 2 for 4 effort marked his 4th multi-hit game in his last 10, and his season slash line is emerging from the depths of the abyss and approaching respectability, if not actual decency: .271 / .295 / .413. j.q. higgins fav, John Ruetigger went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored from the lead off slot.
sigh. Parker Bridwell walked 5 and lasted just 2 IP. He gave up an Earl Weaver Special in the 2nd after allowing 2 ER in the 1st. Brady Wager was called into emergency action and K'd 5 over 4 IP.
Delmarva 4 Lexington (Royals) 5
Mitch Horacek K'd 10 and only walked 1 over 6.2 innings, but also allowed 4 ER via 7 hits. His 8:1 ground out to fly out ratio is pretty swell also. So the results weren't great, but the process sure looks like it was pretty solid. Delmarva's Catching tandem of Chance Sisco and Austin Wynns each went 2 for 4. Josh Hart took and 0 for 5 on the night. Gregory Lorenzo keeps on motorin' like Sister Christian. He stole his 40th and 41st bases of the season.
In NYPL All-Star Game action, Austin Anderson and Jay Gonzalez each took 0 for 2s at the plate. David Hess pitched a scoreless inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.
