Norfolk 4 Charlotte (White Sox) 6
The Dariel Alvarez hit parade continues unabated with another 2 hit performance last night. He singled and lined a triple into RF. Christian Walker got off his recent schnide with a 2nd inning solo HR. Henry Urruita is looking to make his way back to B-more come Sept. 1st; he went 4 for 4 at the dish. Getting picked off 1st won't help his cause though.
Chris Jones had another effective outing as he seeks to be added to the 40man roster and earn a September promotion as well. 6.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BBs, 5 Ks. 64 of his 108 pitches went for strikes, and he induced 8 ground outs to 4 fly outs. Ryan Webb gave up the goose in relief, yielding 4 runs (3 earned) over 1.1 IP, including a 2 run HR in the 8th.
Bowie 7 Erie (Tigers) 10
The offense was humming to the tune of 15 hits and 5 walks drawn, but the pitching gave up 15 & 5 of their own. Branden Kline followed up a fine start to his AA career with a dud in his second outing. 9 ER allowed in 4.2 IP. He yielded 11 hits and 4 walks. 4 of Erie's 5 SBs on the night came with Kline on the mound. Mychal Givens pitched a clean inning of relief, striking out 2.
Every Baysock batter knocked at least 1 hit. Mike Yaz and Buck Britton each had 2 hit nights. (DH) Michael Ohlman went 3 for 4 with a double and a walk.
Frederick 6 Potomac (Nats) 0
Parker Bridwell dazzled the Nats once again, carrying a perfect game into the 7th. He would allow just a lone single over 8 IP that saw him K a season-high 13. In 2 starts vs. Potomac this season Parker went a combined 16.1 IP, allowing just 2 hits, 2 walks, and no runs, while striking out 21. Not bad, kid.
The offense put up 4 runs in the 4th and 2 in the 6th to give Bridwell plenty of cushion with which to work. Wynston Sawyer went 3 for 4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Brenden Webb added 2 hits, an RBI, and 2 runs himself.
Aberdeen 7 Hudson Valley (Rays) 6
The Ironbirds scored 2 in the 9th to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. Hector Veloz hit a moonshot HR in the 8th and doubled earlier in the game. He has hit to the tune of .324 / .387 / .655 over his last 10 games. Austin Anderson went 2 for 5 and chipped in 2 RBI.
