Pitchers | ||
Brad Brach | No hits, one walk, and 6 K's over 2.1 innings, including 2 big strikeouts yesterday to preserve Mike Wright's first win.
Zach Britton | Two saves, but made both of them a little interesting. Between those, allowed 3 ER to widen the gap in Saturday's loss.
Wei-Yin Chen | Chen has been pitching so well that 2 ER on 7 IP Friday actually raised his ERA. The O's wasted this one, scoring only one run in the game.
Miguel Gonzalez | Gonzo was great on Wednesday, throwing 7.2 shutout innings in the rubber game of the Toronto series.
Tommy Hunter | Allowed a single run in each of his two outings, over a total of 2.1 innings.
Ubaldo Jimenez | Just like Chen, another excellent start (7 IP, 2 ER, 6 K, 0 BB) in a season full of them. Just like Chen's start, the O's lost anyway.
Brian Matusz | DNP | |
T.J. McFarland | Faced 5 batters on Tuesday and allowed 2 hits, including a home run. All 4 runs were unearned thanks to a 2-out error.
Bud Norris | DNP - Scratched from his start this weekend due to illness.
Darren O'Day | Allowed a solo shot in Saturday's loss, but was otherwise unscathed over 3.1 innings in three appearances.
Chris Tillman | Failed the Matusz Test on Tuesday, managing to raise his already awful ERA by allowing 5 ER over 6.2 innings.
Mike Wright | One arrow isn't enough. Allowed no runs and pitched into the 8th inning in his MLB debut. No walks and 6 K's. Out-dueled Garrett Richards to avoid a sweep.
Catchers | ||
Caleb Joseph | His 2-RBI double on Wednesday was his only hit in 18 plate appearances.
Ryan Lavarnway | Entered Saturday's game late but had no plate appearances on the week.
Infielders | ||
Chris Davis | Went 3-21 with a walk, a HR, and a double.
J.J. Hardy | Had only 3 hits and a walk in 20 PA, but did account for the Orioles' only run Friday with his second home run of the season.
Manny Machado | Hit the ball well, going 7-24 with 4 extra base hits. Continued to struggle in the field, especially Saturday, recording one error and allowing two other "hits" on plays that should have been made.
Rey Navarro | One hit in only 7 plate appearances, but it was his first career home run.
Jimmy Paredes | May have dropped from "white hot" to simply "hot" - 7 for 25 with a double on the week.
Steve Pearce | Played in 4 games, going 3-13 with a solo home run. Continued to play a competent second base.
Outfielders | ||
Alejandro de Aza | Played in three games and went 2-11 with an RBI double and a walk.
Adam Jones | Not Adam's best week, but not horrific. Went 5 for 24 with a home run and a big 2-run double yesterday.
David Lough | Actually started three games this week and was a defensive sub in another. Went 2 for 9 with a walk.
Travis Snider | Started only twice and saw two other at bats as a pinch-hitter. Had one base hit in only 8 at bats.
Delmon Young | Saw 4 starts, all in right field. Was mostly decent in the field, but went only 2 for 14 at the plate with a walk.
Disabled List | ||
Everth Cabrera | (Foot) - Began his rehab assignment in Norfolk on Friday.
Ryan Flaherty | (Groin) - Re-aggravated his groin injury Monday and made a quick return to the DL. Unclear as of now when he'll be back.
Jason Garcia | (Shoulder) - Placed on the DL Wednesday with shoulder tendinitis.
Kevin Gausman | (Shoulder) - Shoulder MRI came back clean, and may pitch a simulated game on the 27th. Will presumably join Norfolk's rotation once healthy.
Jonathan Schoop | (Knee) - Began baseball activities Saturday, but is looking at a return around the all-star break.
Matt Wieters | (Elbow) - May begin a rehab assignment at the end of this week. June 4 is still reportedly the target date for his return.
Wesley Wright | (Shoulder) - Will pitch in an extended spring training game on the 19th and could be back with the big club by the end of May. |
