Norfolk 0, Columbus (Cleveland) 5
In a dominant performance, Mike Clevinger no-hit the Tides for 7.2 innings, striking out 10 in the process. The Tides were able to generate just two walks off Clevinger and then 2 hits off Shaun Marcum in relief.
After a magnificent regular season Terry Doyle had a rough go of it in this series. He was torched for 8 hits and 5 ER over just 4.2 IP in game one. In game five he was battered for 10 hits, 2 home runs, and 5 more ERs over just 4.1 IP. Tough way to end the season for him. He had allowed just 12 ER total over his last 6 regular season starts and 41 total innings pitched.
And thus ends a tremendous season for the Tides. Dan Duquette certainly can build a tremendous Triple-A squad. The Tides will likely look much different next season, as key contributors such as Mike Wright, Tyler Wilson, Christian Walker, Dariel Alvarez, and Oliver Drake should all be spending significant time with the O's in 2016.
The Bowie Baysox, who moved on to the final round of the Eastern League playoffs, play game one against the Reading Fightin Phils tonight at 7 p.m.
