I don't know about you, but I discovered when I was watching the NLCS last night, after the Blue Jays had been ejected from the postseason like a beer can-throwing fan, that I don't really care who wins this series all that much. It doesn't matter.
Before, it was like, "Well, who's going to beat the Blue Jays if they get to the World Series?" That was an important thing to consider. Now it doesn't matter. The Jays are gone. If the Cubs win, good for them. I'll still be a little annoyed over the whole Dexter Fowler thing, probably, but given that he played for a 103 win team and is in the NLCS, I guess he chose wisely. If the Dodgers win, good for them. The team with Clayton Kershaw on it should win a World Series.
I'll probably still root for the Indians in the World Series, just because, in general, it's better if the AL team wins the World Series. That way, we don't have to listen to a whole bunch of NL fans acting like their league plays real baseball. But if the Cubs end their drought and we don't have to hear about that any more, that's probably a net win for baseball fans too. And even if Cubs fans become terrible, like Red Sox fans did, well, honestly, that's somebody else's problem because we only have to deal with the Orioles playing them once every three years.
Anyway, first, one of these NL teams must make it to the World Series. The best-of-seven set is tied at two games apiece presently. No matter what, there will be no baseball game tomorrow, but there will also be a game on Saturday night, no matter what.
