Gameday Thread: O's at Blue Jays

Daniel Cabrera, RH Josh Towers, RH (1-1, 7.53) (1-1, 5.52) 2B B Roberts LF F Catalanotto 3B M Mora C G Zaun SS M Tejada DH S Hillenbrand RF S Sosa 3B C Koskie 1B R Palmeiro CF V Wells C J Lopez 1B E Hinske DH J Gibbons RF A Rios CF L Matos 2B O Hudson LF L Bigbie SS R Adams

Towers is another former Oriole. We sure face a lot of those. He looks very happy just to be a big leaguer, as well he should be. I have no idea how Towers has held on this long, even in Toronto.

Game time is 7:07, because that's how they do it in Canada, and I won't see any of the games against the Jays. Poor me, I so love watching games at the SkyDome where all nine innings feature what sounds to be the hum of the world's largest Dirt Devil. Tonight's game is available on WNUV, and Saturday and Sunday are 1:07 on WJZ.

4-4 through 4
O's went up 1-0 in the second when Gibbons singled Javy home. Jays scored four in the bottom of the third on a two-run double from Zaun and a two-run homer from Koskie. O's got it back in the fourth with a solo homer from Tejada and a two-run jack from Javy.

Cabrera has given up five hits, with three walks and six strikeouts.

Cabrera lasts 5 2/3
  • E. Hinske walked
  • A. Rios struck out swinging
  • E. Hinske stole second
  • E. Hinske stole third
  • O. Hudson walked
  • R. Adams grounded into fielder's choice, E. Hinske scored, O. Hudson out at second
  • F. Catalanotto walked, R. Adams to second
  • S. Kline relieved D. Cabrera
So 6 BB, 7 K. Ugh.

I would just like to note
That I am literally stunned that more of you have not taken your Friday night to either watch the Orioles and Blue Jays, or follow the game online. I am floored.

Back on Track
I saw the 4th through 8th at a bar in York.  That 8th inning was fun and Todd Williams is becoming one of my favorite Orioles.
Why not 2005?

woo
Either the SkyDome has fallen in finally, or Luis Matos and Scott Schoeneweis have been having a staring contest on the 1-0 pitch for a long time. The disadvantages of following on the internet.

Oh wait unfrozen finally

  • L. Matos singled to first, S. Sosa scored, J. Lopez to third, J. Gibbons to second
  • L. Bigbie singled to right, J. Lopez scored, J. Gibbons to third, L. Matos to second
  • B. Roberts walked, J. Gibbons scored, L. Matos to third, L. Bigbie to second
No kiddin'! We rule.

Six-run eighth inning
And the O's lead it 10-5. That's what I'm talkin' about.

Gibbons
Huge day capped off with a three-run homer in the ninth. If Matos gets a hit, that means everyone in the lineup got at least two hits except Brian Roberts.

re:
Aw, no hit for Luis. So everyone but Roberts (0-for-4) and Matos (1-for-5).

MLB TV
Dude, Scott, you need internet tv. I live in Philly now and for 80 bucks it's totally worth it.

re:
I have Extra Innings on my digital cable, which gives me the majority of the season's games, but since Canada's TSN isn't carried by the package and CSN isn't doing any of the three games this weekend, I'm just kind of stuck without the Blue Jays games if CSN doesn't cover them. Stupid Canada. (No offense, Canadians!)

Oh my God
I can't believe Reed didn't give them a sympathy run. Good for him. Stay strong, Steve.
