Tribe Confident for Game 6 @ Fenway

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AjV.1oEAM94H.br1yrwXipOpu7YF?slug=ap-alcs-confidentindians& ;prov=ap&type=lgns

The usual boilerplate. I wish they'd quoted someone saying "We're coming to play," "Schilling puts his pants on one leg at a time," or "I don't believe in baseball cliches, but..."

Anyway, let's get this thing over with already. The sooner the Tribe puts the Sox and the Rox out of our misery, the quicker we can get back to the joys of our Serious Rebuilding Campaign 'n' stuff.

Oh, and Cal beats UCLA (even up); Orygun over UW by 10 (in Seattle, no less, and not looking ahead to USC or the Scum Devils); Snodfart squeaks past 'Zona by 3 in a game which may run 51-48; and USC drubs ND at South Bend by some big score we don't care about.

Meanwhile, fearsome Ohio State, victor over fearsomer Youngstown State, Akron and Kent State-- can these people schedule or what?-- continues to coast to a No. 1 ranking by playing a whole litany of undistinguished Big 10 teams (whoops, a little redundant there). Then comes bowl time and, wow, they get douched. Ho-hum.

Yes: *&%$ #(& $^#& !!!
Um, I know it's America and everything,  but isn't this gentleman under contract with a competing organization? While this probably doesn't fall under MLB's anti-fraternizing rule (KM isn't in uniform or at a ball park), somehow it seems to me to violate the spirit of it.

I s'pose I should ask myself how cheesed off I'd be if KM were making TV spots encouraging fans to root against the Sawx and for the Indians. Leaving aside legalities (isn't there a conflict of interest in plugging any other MLB team?), I guess I'd find it unusual but not offensive, as the former are a natural division rival (and have a bunch of dirtbag fans who give the team a bad name).

In any case, ugh, bigtime disappointment. Leaves a bad taste.

Even metaphorically speaking, the Warehouse isn't a warehouse. It's an outhouse. What does that make Petey?

"isn't this gentleman under contract with a competing organization?"

No, he is under contract with the Baltimore Orioles.

And speaking of broadcasting...
does anybody know if Joe Angel is a potential object of "housecleaning" now? I mean, we know Petey has already made the stupidest @#%&ing decision in Oriole broadcasting history. Not that you'd forgotten, but still..

"After one year announcing for the Oakland Athletics and brief stints with the Texas Rangers, and the Boston Red Sox, [Jon Miller] was hired in 1983 by Baltimore's WFBR Radio, which at the time served as the flagship station of the Baltimore Orioles...Miller remained their primary announcer through 1996. At the end of that season, new Orioles owner Peter Angelos, displeased with Jon's often candid commentary of the Orioles play, declined to renew his contract, citing a desire for a broadcaster who would 'bleed more orange and black.'"

I have this gnawing worry that he might just go for No. 2...

talking about college fb on cc: awesome.
I was really rooting for an 0-12 ND season.  I'm so sad I can't get one.

I was at the last O's-Yanks series of the year, with an O's fan friend and my roommate -- yes, I live with a Yankees fan -- and behind us was a nice, tipsy O's fan in a Notre Dame jersey.  I said, "You're really not having a good year, are you?"  He said, "Nooooooooooooooo," and his buddy, wearing a USC jersey, laughed at him.  (Hey, are you dudes CC readers?  I was the girl with the short hair and the B.Rob shirt.  I want to be your friend, ND fan!)

How'd a obvious Pac-10 fan end up an O's fan, Titov?  Where's the ACC love?  We're just sitting around the house waiting for UVA/MD today.

I disowned Paul Shuey. From now on he has to tell people he went to Duke.

Pac 10 rules!
But don't take my word for it: ask Westie, he's always right. Sort of. Hey, enthusiasm counts (more than spelling, too).

And speaking of right, fb fans, let's take a look at our prediction record this week, shall we?

Whoa, everything Swami Titov called above was remarkably on the nose (or at least up one nostril) except Cal-UCLA-- and gimme a break on the latter, they're the least decipherable team in Div I this year. Watch me lose a bunch on them in December in the Mediocrity Bowl against some shlub 7-5 Big 10 team that they'll beat on the last play of the game or something-- but not beat the spread doing it.

As to how the Swami got hooked on this league: 's where I went to college, that's all, after growing up in O's territory (VA, from which I retain vestigial pro-Cavalier sentimenents-- sorry there duck, but at least it looks like it was a good game yesterday).

As to real "ACC love": nope, nada, just not a conference I have strong feelings for. Except for one case of bigtime *un*love: I really dislike Duke. But then who doesn't?
