Santana to Boston for Lester +2 "all but done".
Johan Santana will may join the pink hats. Then again, maybe he won't.
The Twins will might get Jon Lester, Justin Masterson (not Crisp), and Ryan Kalish.
I heard this on ESPN radio while driving this afternoon. Now it's being said by Will Carroll at Baseball Prospectus as well.
Still a rumor, though, no official confirmation yet.

NY talk radio
Right, guys. He'll accept less from another steam just to stick it to George. 'Cause all anyone really gives a shit about is beating the Yankees, even in making trades, right? puhllleeeeeze.

It's just a question of arrogant self-entitlement against drunken limp-dicked self-loathing--DaBB
That's it?
The Yankees...
Also, let's not forget that the NY media and fans drastically over-value Melky Cabrera. A plus throwing arm, maybe, but all he's ever going to amount to at the plate is league average, if that.

To state the obvious...
AL is just stacked next year
- How can you top that BoSox rotation? And they still will have a top bullpen and one of the best hitting teams in the league.
- The Yanks kept their core intact and still have good prospects coming up. They have to be at least a 90 win team again.
- The Indians are also at least as good as 2007.
- The Tigers now have a deeper rotation (though I'm not big on Willis either) and an offense that may contend with Boston and New York.
- The Angels have maybe the deepest rotation, the addition of Hunter, and maybe an infield upgrade too.
My guess
well...
this is a very old team.

Um, can the Orioles petition to join either
Not a done deal yet

Maybe they have the workings of a deal with Boston and just want to shop it around one more time to see if anyone will one up them.
Not really a rumor
I would assume that Olney doesn't think that's as big an issue with Santana because the Twins aren't a destitute team putting all their hopes and dreams on cashing in on Santana's skills the way the Orioles are.
