I kind of feel bad

The Rays are 29 games over .500 and drew a whopping 13,478 fans last night. Usually the front office will inflate that number so I'd say the attendance was probably around 11,750 or so at the Trop. There are a few threads on DraysBay trying to explain the pathetic turnout, but there is no excuse, not even being able to draw 15k is pretty unheard of. It seems pretty obvious to me that the reason no one comes is because they have no fan base; they have never been remotely competitive and therefore have no fans. And Florida isn't a pro ball state.

Yankees fan hates 'redneck' Baltimoreans

I'm trying again to share a Yahoo! link here. Some guy named schadenfreude hates us.

The 2008 Scouting Report, By The Fans, For The Fans

For the sixth year in a row, I am once again asking for hardcore baseball fans to participate in the annual Scouting Report project, in which you evaluate the fielding characteristics of players on your team. If you have a few minutes, please drop by and evaluate your team.

Huff, Walker, Millar, Payton clear waivers

From the Baltimore Sun.

Sherrill also was put on Waivers, but he didn't clear them and no trade was made, so he will be an Oriole through 2008.

The above four will be tradeable through August.

Sarfate's brutal post game interview

He belittles himself, states that he sucks repeatedly, thinks he's failing as a starter (because he is, of course). Makes absolutely no excuses or anything.

On the one hand, he's doing a horrible job as a starter. On the other hand, it's refreshing to see a major leaguer man up when making a mistake and stop blaming it on stupid shit like "just a mistake pitch."

He's still young, has a powerful arm... hope his confidence isn't shot enough where he can't remember how to pitch like the ~3.50ERA reliever he had been most of this year.

Putting the Death Sentence to Death

There's been much talk on here about how we should just write off our pitchers with a torn labrum because it's virtually impossible to recover from. Just saw this and thought I should pass it along. Maybe there's still hope...

Bavasi's Back!

Maybe we should look into trading Chris Waters for Jay Bruce and Adam Dunn...

Owners to discuss blackout solution

Could the ridiculous blackout rules finally be recognized as out of date? Let's hope so.
