Camdencast Episode 15 - My Funny Valentine
On the day for lovers, what better way to celebrate our love for a team that hates us with a podcast? That's what Andrew and I decided, so we recorded one last night to have ready for today. It's been a reasonably eventful time in the month since we were with you last, with a variety of shenanigans ranging from not signing Yoenis Cespedes to getting their scouts banned from South Korean baseball games. Also, there was the will-they-won't-they Manny Ramirez drama and the Jeremy Guthrie trade. Mixed in with all of this is some of us waxing nostalgic about the Orioles thanks to CamdenYards20, the Orioles' official website for the 20th anniversary of Camden Yards.

Camdencast Episode 14 - Forty Degree Days
With all credit to Stacey for recognizing this offseason for what it is, there's not a lot to say about forty, but Andrew and I have tried to have a podcast about it anyway, because it has been a while since we were here to share our Orioles and baseball chatter with you. We've run down the moves and the non-moves, sprinkled in some thoughts about the rotation, why recent Orioles teams have expensively failed, and other miscellaneous topics.
Hopefully, this will be the last podcast that has to be split into two parts, as I am trying anew to find some resolution with the SBN issues that have existed for a while. One thing that is new for today is that you can now listen to the podcast through this very post, without clicking on a separate tab:
PART ONE
Part 1 runs about 27 minutes. Maybe drug dealers don't have much to say about forty, but bloggers do.
PART TWO
Part 2 is about 26 minutes, and you can also listen to it here:

Thanks for all the feedback so far. We hope you will keep listening and keep helping us improve. We'll be back again!
Camdencast Episode 13 - GM Fever
We've got GM fever here in Baltimore - or should I say executive vice president of baseball operations fever? In any case, for Andrew and I, the only cure was more podcast. It's the Dan Duquette era. We talked about the dysfunction exposed by the search process and moved on to discuss our thoughts on Duquette based on what we saw of him in the introductory press conference. Is he saying the right things? Can he turn the Orioles around where others have failed? Of course, we can't know these things, but we give our best guess.
I'd like to apologize if there are any sound issues on this episode, and also for the lack of a time breakdown. Some things cropped up when I would typically have done my last pass to clean everything up and take down the clock numbers as the topics drift and I did not get the opportunity to do so before having to get this episode posted.
This podcast, as most have been due to SBN technical limitations at present, is in two parts. They are roughly 25 minutes apiece.
Part 1 is located here
Part 2 resides here

Camdencast Episode 12 - Playoff Predictions
Andrew and I wanted to do a last podcast to wrap up the regular season before it ends. It turns out we didn't do much wrapping up of the regular season, but there's a solid Orioles rant followed by our predictions of the playoffs (as they appear to be constituted right now). For good measure, there's a little discussion about how you pick a playoff team to root for when your team is bad, like ours, and not involved.
Part I, which can be found here:
0:00-11:30 – Mark on a rant about the Orioles' handling of Brian Matusz this season
11:30-21:00 – Breaking down and predicting the ALDS, rooting against Boston
Part II, which is right here:
0:00-3:00 – Breaking down and predicting the NLDS
3:00-6:00 – Breaking down the ALCS (based on our guesses) and predictions
6:00-11:00 – NLCS breakdown (based on our guesses) and predictions, sort of
11:00-23:15 – How do you pick a team to root for in the playoffs?
If you were subscribed on iTunes, you could have gotten automatic updates with no hassle. Or if you get your podcasts through other programs, there's always the XML link.
We will be back at random intervals through the playoffs and the offseason, hopefully with some interesting Orioles discussion to get you through the baseball-less doldrums. Thanks for listening and for all the feedback!
Camdencast Episode 11 - New Directions
Andrew and I took a break from the gloomy weather in the Mid-Atlantic to record another podcast. With reports continuing to surface of pending front office upheaval, Andrew and I ponder what new direction we would like to see the Orioles take. We're in two parts once again, for a total of about 45 minutes. The second part is an interesting discussion (if I might say so myself) on the purpose and merits of WAR - Wins Above Replacement.
Part I, which can be found here:
0:00-10:30 Intro, front office upheaval: how do we know what went wrong with current regime?
10:30-15:30 Jim Johnson in the rotation: good idea or bad idea?
15:30-20:30 Are the O's trying to emulate Texas? More assorted rotation discussion
20:30-25:00 Why the Rays have a plan B but the O's don't
Part II, which is right here:
0:00-16:30 WAR: What's it good for?
16:30-20:30 Final thoughts: Frederick Keys in the playoffs; Zach Britton, finish strong!
If you were subscribed on iTunes, you could have gotten automatic updates with no hassle. Or if you get your podcasts through other programs, there's always the XML link.
Thanks once more for all the support. We always appreciate any feedback. We'll be back again!
Camdencast Episode 10 - GMs Past, Present and Future
Andrew and I are back after a little hiatus. It's just the two of us this time, and the bulk of the podcast is talking about recent Orioles GMs. Two-part podcasts may be the new normal. They are about 25 minutes apiece.
Part I, which can be found here:
0:00-12:00 – Remembering Mike Flanagan – and how the teams he built as GM weren't as bad as you think
12:00-18:30 – Will the Orioles lose 100 games? Does it even matter? No, it doesn't matter.
18:30-23:51 – What do we want out of the Orioles' next GM?
Part II, which can be found right here:
0:00-12:00 - What went wrong with MacPhail's plan? Was a 100 loss season inevitable?
12:00-19:45 - Andrew's theory about why Vlad is continuing to bat cleanup
19:45-25:08 - Fan optimism, no matter how irrational
If you were subscribed on iTunes, you could have gotten automatic updates to Camdencast with no hassle. Or if you use some other means of acquiring podcasts, you can run our XML link through the program of your choice.
We'll try our best to have a show a week for the rest of the season. As always, please let us know if you have any feedback. We'll be back again!
Camdencast Episode 9 - North of the Border
Andrew and I asked ourselves, what could be more fun talking about the Orioles? The answer is talking about the Orioles and an upcoming opponent with a fan from that team. So we were joined for this episode by JohnnyG, who is my podcasting counterpart on Bluebird Banter, and we ended up with a session that was a blast to record. I hope you have as much fun listening as we did recording.
Due to continuing technical difficulties with SBNation, this podcast has also been split into two parts.
Part 1 is about 20 minutes long, and it can be found here.
Part 2 is about 18 minutes long, and it is located right here.
If you were subscribed on iTunes, you could have gotten this podcast updated automatically without any hassle! Or if you use some other means of acquiring podcasts, you can get your updates through our XML feed with this link.
Part 1 breakdown:
0:00-5:00 Intro and life for Blue Jays fans in 2011
5:00-11:45 Blue Jays general managers: the new vs. the old
11:45-16:00 Jose Bautista is amazing
16:00-19:51 Toronto as a baseball town
Part 2 breakdown:
0:00-4:45 Balanced schedules and/or realignment
4:45-12:45 JohnnyG's first impression of Jays manager Farrell; concussions
12:45-18:26 Could O's have made Rasmus trade? Also, will Adam Loewen make MLB again?
Please let us know how we can continue to make a more enjoyable listening experience for you. Thanks for listening. We'll be back again!
Camdencast Episode 8 - Organizational Inconsistencies
Andrew and I recorded another podcast last night, trying to hold to the new plan of shorter but more frequent podcasts. I ran into some technical difficulties with SBN in getting everything posted before now. The bonus is you now get two podcasts for the price of one, since I had to split the podcast in two as a result of those issues.
Part I is about 18 minutes long, and you can listen to it here.
Part II is about 19 minutes long and you can find that one right here.
If you were subscribed to us on iTunes you could have gotten automatic updates to this podcast without any hassle! Or, if you use some other means of acquiring podcasts you can also subscribe to our XML feed for the podcast with this link.
Part I breaks down roughly like this:
0:00-8:00 Colby Rasmus trade and why Jays GM is a wizard
8:00-14:00 The Orioles at the trade deadline
14:00-18:51 Platoon splits
Part II breaks down roughly like this:
0:00-7:15 Other organizational inconsistencies
7:15-19:54 Young pitching put to the test vs. Yankees, plus some Yankees hatred flows
Thank you all for the feedback, as always. We will be back again, hopefully with fewer technical issues and sooner than you think.
