Indians activate C Martinez from DL

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians activated catcher Victor Martinez from the 15-day disabled list on Friday. Martinez had been on the DL since June 12 after undergoing surgery on his right elbow. He hit .278 with 11 doubles and 21 RBI in 54 games for the Tribe prior to the setback. To make room on the roster, the club designated infielder Andy Gonzalez for assignment. He appeared in 10 games for the Indians, batting .208 (5-for-24) with a home run and two RBI.
