Buckner, Rosales highlights September call-ups for Arizona

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced several roster moves to take place on Tuesday as rosters are set to expand in Major League Baseball for September on Monday. The Diamondbacks will recall pitchers Leo Rosales, Doug Slaten and Billy Buckner, catcher Robby Hammock, infielders Jamie D'Antona and Josh Whitesell and outfielder Alex Romero from Triple-A Tuscon on Tuesday following the completion of the Sidewinders' season. Buckner pitched seven games for Arizona this season, going 1-0 with a 3.60 earned-run average over 10 innings of action. Rosales appeared in 22 games in his big league debut this season, going 1-0 with a 4.01 ERA over 24 2/3 innings of play. Slaten appeared in 38 games for the Diamondbacks earlier this season and went 0-3 with a 4.30 ERA. Hammock saw action in 16 games with the big league club thus far in 2008 and batted .171 with four runs scored, a double and two RBI. He has played in 62 games for the Sidewinders, batting .240 with 29 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, five home runs and 27 RBI. D'Antona has played 12 games this season with Arizona, his first games in the big league, and batted .182 with a run scored. Romero also saw action in his first big league games this season, playing in 63 games, batting .244 with 11 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, a home run and 12 RBI. Whitesell has yet to play a big league game.
