Recap: Oakland vs. Texas

Sports Network | September 13, 2008

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Bobby Crosby had two hits and three runs driven in to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 7-1 victory over the Texas Rangers at McAfee Coliseum.

Josh Outman (1-0) allowed only one run on four hits and two walks in five innings, with three strikeouts, to earn the win. The bullpen pitched four innings of three-hit ball to secure the victory.

Jack Cust hit a two-run home run while Aaron Cunningham had two hits and two RBI for the Athletics, who had lost the first two games of this four- game set.

Scott Feldman (5-7) struggled, throwing only 4 2/3 innings and giving up six runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out two.

Nelson Cruz drove in the lone run for Texas, while Marlon Byrd scored a run in the defeat.

Oakland took the lead in the fourth. Ryan Sweeney led off with a double, and Cust blasted his 29th home run of the year to give the A's a 2-1 lead.

Oakland followed with a five-spot in the fifth. Cunningham hit a two-out bases-loaded single to score two more runs, and after Luis Mendoza came on in relief for Texas, Cunningham stole second, prompting an intentional walk to Daric Barton to load the bases. Crosby followed with a three-run double to right for a 7-1 Oakland advantage.

Texas got on the board in the second. Byrd hit a one-out single, and Hank Blalock drew a walk after Byrd swiped second. Cruz followed with an RBI double to deep right to make it 1-0.

Despite the loss, Texas leads the season series 10-5...Rangers designated hitter Milton Bradley was ejected in the fourth inning for arguing a call.
