Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Oakland Athletics second baseman Mark Ellis and left fielder Jack Cust both left Friday's 7-5 setback to the Seattle Mariners with injuries.
Ellis departed after the second inning with tightness in his right shoulder while Cust left in the bottom of the third with blurred vision.
Eric Patterson took over for Ellis at second while Rajai Davis replaced Cust in the lineup and manned center field. Right fielder Emil Brown slid over to left and center fielder Carlos Gonzalez moved to right.
Ellis struck out in his only at-bat in the first while Cust grounded out in the second.
