Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Geoff Jenkins on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a right hip flexor strain.
Jenkins suffered the injury in the third inning of Friday's 8-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He led off the frame with an infield single, but appeared to be limping after he beat out Dodgers third baseman Casey Blake's throw to first. Jenkins was later erased at second when Chris Coste bounced into a 5-4-3 double play.
He is batting .246 with nine home runs and 29 RBI in 108 games this season.
In a related move, the club purchased the contract of infielder Andy Tracy from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Tracy is hitting .288 with 21 home runs and 84 RBI in 120 games for the IronPigs.
