Jays activate 3B Rolen from DL

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays activated third baseman Scott Rolen from the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Rolen was placed on the DL on August 10 with a left shoulder injury. Signed as a free agent this past offseason, Rolen came to Toronto after an injury-plagued 2007 year with St. Louis and then missed the first 23 games of this season due to a fractured finger. In 88 games this season, Rolen is batting .252 with seven homers and 38 RBI. The seven-time National League Gold Glove award winner and 1997 NL Rookie of the Year with Philadelphia is a career .282 hitter with 268 homers and 1050 RBI in 1593 games with the Phillies, Cardinals and Blue Jays. The corresponding roster move was made on Monday when the club optioned outfielder Kevin Mench to Triple-A Syracuse. Rolen did not start in Tuesday's game.
