Bedard negotiations stall
Per The Sun.
MacPhail stresses that
...the cooling of talks shouldn't be taken as a sign that the Orioles are ready to unload Bedard..."I'm not concerned," MacPhail said. "My experience tells me that this isn't unusual. I'd be hesitant to read too much into it."
However, even if the talks resume, MacPhail has to be keeping his eye out for Bedard trades....
According to several industry sources, the Mets' offer for Bedard, which was rejected, included 21-year-old outfield prospect Carlos Gomez, reliever Aaron Heilman, 29, and a third player, believed to be right-handed starter Philip Humber, 24. Gomez, ranked as the Mets' third-best prospect by Baseball America, is clearly the headliner.
...The Orioles and Dodgers have also had discussions about Bedard. Center fielder Matt Kemp, reliever Jonathan Broxton and pitching prospect Clayton Kershaw are among the names discussed, sources say.
I love Bedard, but I'm really fine for trading him if we can get a package of three great guys.
In other news, "a team source said there was absolutely no way the Phillies would trade for Baltimore Orioles third baseman Melvin Mora.".

re:
Hopefully the Dodgers and Angels talks are continuing. I'd rather he go there than either of the Yankees, but talk to them as well. Hell, push the same Ellsbury/Lester/Bucholz angle if things with the Angels/Dodgers stall.

re:
Not really. Santana throws 220 innings a year, is the same age as Bedard, and has, for four years, been either the best pitcher in baseball or in the discussion. Bedard is dominant when he's healthy, but he's a risk.
I think the Mets offer isn't good enough, too, but I'm not going to compare Erik Bedard to Johan Santana just yet, even with an added year.
Thanks for the time that you've given me...

put forward slashes in front and back of the text you want to italicize. So:
Petey is an /idiot/!
becomes
Petey is an idiot!
If you wanna go HTML, use <i> instead of [i].
