Roberts would "welcome a trade to the Cubs"...
...and the feeling is mutual.
The source on this is the Chicago Sun-Times, so take it with the requisite grain of salt.
Nonetheless:
The Cubs still appear to have interest in a possible trade for Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts, despite his admission after being named in the Mitchell Report last week that he tried steroids in 2003.And the two-time All-Star sounded like the interest was mutual Thursday night during an interview on the Cubs' flagship radio station. He also suggested that admitting he ''made a mistake'' with what he said was a one-time use of steroids does not exclude him from role-model status.
...Cubs officials suggested this week that if a player in which they had interest was named in the Mitchell Report, that would not necessarily prevent them from pursuing the player.
''We would evaluate players in a case-by-case situation,'' general manager Jim Hendry said.
...Roberts, 30, has told those close to him he would welcome a trade to the Cubs. He was more reserved talking about it publicly Thursday, though he seemed to marvel at the Wrigley Field experience, having attended Game 7 of the 2003 NLCS.
''That was one of the most incredible atmospheres and games I've ever watched,'' he said. ''That's the kind of baseball atmosphere that anybody would want to play in.''

Cubs
But we're really going to need some middle infield prospects to make this work. If I have to see Fahey AND Hernandez starting next year, a small part of me will die inside.

Outfield prospects from the Cubs
He's ranked number two on BaseballAmerica's Top 10 Prospects list and projects to be a pretty great corner outfielder.
Sam Fuld
Unbelievable defensive outfielder, can play all three outfield positions, and contains an inhuman arm. He also draws a lot of walks and could be a pretty good lead-off hitter. Lots of singles and slap hits, like Ichiro some say.
Sean Gallagher
Reports suggest that they're high on Gallagher, who projects to be a three, possibly a number two rotation guy.
Either way, they have some pieces that would help.
As a personal thing though, I saw Sam Fuld make the most insane play I've seen in a long time, slamming into the ivy in right (face first) at full speed, turning, and firing home to nail the guy tagging from third. Pie's made some similar plays.
