Gameday Thread: O's at Yankees, 04/08

Erik Bedard, LH Darrell Rasner, RH (0-1, 11.57) (0-0, -.--)
Maybe pitch around A-Rod? I dunno -- dude is killing the ball so far this season.
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
Erik Bedard gets a chance to get his season in gear after an iffy first start on Opening Day. It happens, you know? And really, I didn't think Bedard was all THAT bad. He never seemed comfortable or in a rhythm, but the two homers he gave up were back-to-back and just two really bad pitches. You have to minimize those, obviously. I'm a real scientist. He'll be fine. I'm not worried about BUH DARD.
Darrell Rasner isn't quite the scrub some of y'all are making him out to be, though, so don't get too excited. He's a talented guy that idiot Jim Bowden put on waivers. He had a 2.78 ERA in 10 starts at Columbus last year before coming up and doing well with the Yankees over six appearances (three starts) -- 4.43/1.13 in 20 innings. He's a sinker/slider guy that could be a back-end rotation filler for a long time if he stays healthy. His 2006 was shut down thanks to shoulder soreness shortly after he arrived in the bigs.
LET'S GO, O'S.

Reason # 437 to love baseball
A chance for redemption. The opportunity to attone.
While I was sick with disgust yesterday, today I am laughing about the A-rod debacle: I mean, could you have scripted a worse outcome? HAHAHAHAHA.
It was one game in a looong season. Or, as I'm sure Buntin' Sammy has already said in the clubhouse, "It was a test of character." The question is, how do the boys respond?
BUHdard rocks. We have a nice shot at a series sweep today. And I honestly wouldn't be upset if it was a close game and Ray got called again. Get the kid back on the horse. Although three games in a row might be a strain on his arm. Whatever.
GO ORIOLES!

We have enough angst to go around here...
We don't like them, and we know that our Ownership sucks.
These are facts.
It's not something that someone of your ilk or passion needs to reinforce, we can do that just fine all by ourselves.
Get another hobby, will ya?
Leave the Skankee lovin' to your fan pages, and we'll take care of belittling our own team our own way.
There, I've said my peace.

We have a right...
Let me just remind you that the reason you win games nowadays, is because of your payroll. Not because of any skill in putting a team together on the part of your FO. Your system cannot come up with the players necessary to compete anymore as it had in the late 90's so Steinbrenner's checkbook has to make up the difference, and he does so to the tune of doubling, and tripling league average payrolls on teams that do not win championships. Given that all this solemn annoying "Yankee tradition" is about "winning the most championships in the history of sports" this would qualify you as also the top team of all time in terms of wasting money these past years.
I was unaware when you started talking your bullshit yesterday that we were discussing teams from ten years ago rather than the one you're fielding this season. But apparently, as most deluded Yank fans like yourself do, you're more than happy to get in a time machine back to when your team had slightly more integrity in the form of homegrown talent to prove it once existed. This however has nothing to do with today, and serves no purpose besides proving my point that you are the fans of baseball with the rich uncle writing the checks for your enjoyment. Would I take it if Angelos were doing the same thing? Of course I would...but I wouldn't delude myself your stupid ass is doing.
Anyhow, enough with the same old crap we've heard from Yankee fans for so long. You have a fitting handle by the way: your arrogance and stupidity indeed boggles the mind. And from myself and all Oriole fans everywhere, I extend a sincere Fuck You.

Oh, and by the way, a very Happy Easter my fellow CC'ers.
Since today is the traditional celebration of rebirth and such, here's to our season beginning again today with a "W".

The Yanks payroll during their championship run was still pretty damn high. In fact, they were number 1 every year since 1996 except for 1998 (when they were number 2). So yes, homegrown players were important to the Yanks' championship run but leave the patronizing talk about how the Yankees "didn't win championships in the past because their payroll was high," out of CC. It's factually false.

Pot, meet kettle
So, what exactly was the thinking behind...
Carl Pavano
Jaret Wright
Sidney Ponson
Danny Tartabull
Jason Giambi (how many rings does he have?)
Mike Mussina (how many rings does he have?)
Alex Rodriguez (how many rings does he have?)
Ed "Where's the Klan Meeting?" Whitson
Hideki Irabu (What are the Japanese words for "fat puffy toad?"
Kenny Rogers (not the singer - he might have been worth something)
Gary Sheffield (how many rings did he win with NYY?)
Johnny Damon (I forget has he played more games than days on the DL or is it the other way around))
So I can see why you would warn against free agency...last time I checked, the Yankees have as many WS championships as the Orioles since 2000. That would be NONE.

However, I'm kind of thinking that you're actually serious, which would be even better. So level with me, do you actually have a bug up your ass because somebody doesn't like the Yankees? I find unintentional comedy to be the best of all.

Ha ha ha.
Silly little troll. Needs to yell at someone so he comes to an Oriole board because he he thinks we're just too stoooooopid to realize how glorious his sad sack team his.
Aw, oookie oookie ookie wittle bitty troll! You so cute!
By the way, every team has young arms prospering in the minors. But we actually compete in something called the majors. Maybe you should call some of those prospering guys up, since your four free agent starters, NONE of whom were developed in the Yankee system, are averaging less just over four innings per start with a collective ERA of 9.86.

First off...
Secondly the hate comes from you. You decided to hop onto an opposing teams message board to talk shit and rub a win in after a walk off homer. That's bad sportsmanship and shitty behavior. To put it mildly. But it's hardly atypical of the spoiled fans of your team.
Again, I know spending money does not win championships. Your team has proven that beyond any reasonable doubt over the course of the past 7 years. So I'm not really sure what you're getting at besides just acting like a general asshole. Which again is hardly atypical of the spoiled fans of your team.
Now go get your fucking shinebox, troll!!!

Must be really hard knowing that each year your team will be in the cellar. Shit even the D-Rays have more promise.
BTW: Is Sam Perlozzo like the 20th manager you've had in the last five years?

Sam is our second manager; we made a foolish mistake of picking up a friggin Yankee before him. Not sure why anyone thought it was a good idea to take a manager from one of the most under performing team in recent memory.

Assuming it's a save situation, you throw Ray out there? I think it maybe a good confidence booster assuming he nails it down. Or it could destroy the kid if he blows another one there with the crowd on him.
He's already pitched 3 days in a row, so we may not see him.
