Holy crap, Orioles actually come back?

Mark it down as a day to remember: The Orioles actually won when trailing after eight innings, coming back to beat the God awful Chicago White Sox, 7-6 in 10 innings.

I left the game when we were down 5-1 to watch boxing, and man oh man, did I not expect them to ACTUALLY come back and win.

I feel so bad for White Sox fans. I mean, they just won the World Series two years ago and had a good club last year. They're not as used to this junk as we are. Giving up 32 runs in one day to the Twins, losing a game late against the Orioles. What's next? Jeez Louise.

But I did say early in the game thread to not count us out, or, more accurately, to not count out the ineptitude of the White Sox. They are awful. I kind of like playing them, actually. It's like a contest to see less who wins than who doesn't manage to find an incredible way to lose again.

"White Sox not used to losing"
Pior to 2005, the White Sox fans were plenty use to losing and as one Oriole fan, I don't feel a friggin' bit sorry for them.
I thought it happier to be dead / to die for a World Series victory, than live for mediocerity.

This is All Star Bobby Jenks'
2nd blown save against us in about as many weeks. That must feel pretty special.

Also,
Kristen and I watched this game in an Irish bar here in Boston. Support was rallied for our dramatic comeback, even from drunkass Sox fans fresh from Fenway. Feel the love.

An Irish Bar in Boston...
...filled with drunk Red Sox fans.

I can't think of too many things that seem closer to Hell than that.

yikes
you guys seen our lineup today? Patterson, Gibbons, Fahey and Paul "Thunder" Bako.

By the way, I saw Chris Richard playing for the Durham Bulls last night.. he hit a three run homer. Remember that guy?

not to mention
he put Patterson 2nd, and Gibbons Fahey and Bako 7-8-9; That's forfeiting 1 of every 3 innings - and doesn't give Roberts (who can actually hit the ball) a chance to move anybody up. I guess they just don't have a choice but to play Bako...except for that guy in Triple A; what's his name..."will never play a ML game for the O's?". yeah, him.

Patterson batting 2nd
was not a bad move.  Sounds weird, I know.  But going into today's game he had an .845 OPS in July.  He's been swinging a hot bat...and he ended up hitting a homer today.

also
Patterson barely missed another homer in deep right center.  His bat is looking good this month.

yeah it worked out fine
I like having him in the bottom 3rd though just because his being there helps to turn the lineup over with less than 2 outs.

That said, the lineup is so screwed up right now with Mora and Tejada out that I can understand batting him higher when Ramon sits, because 9 times out of 10 nothing will happen 6-9, so it's better to get him on for Markakis/Millar.

speaking before thinking - I do this alot.
