BUH DARD

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the best pitcher in baseball. Erik Bedard is off his ass and I want to climb to the top of a mountain and shout about it. My boy is sick.
And I said it at the bottom of the game thread, but I'm on board with Dave Trembley. That's right! Utter positivity from yours truly. Thought maybe you might be sick of the pessimistic crap from me. I get sick of it, too, believe me.
Karaoke Songs I Sang For 07/25: "Picture" in the style of Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow with some girl I don't know after my friend wimped out and "Forgot About Dre" with a Tigers fan named Mickey (I was Dre)

And this afternoon, the manager's acid test:
If Dave doesn't drop acid after the D-Bags have their once-weekly explosion all over him, we'll know we have a real hombre at the helm.
That's the signpost up ahead, your next stop: the Trembley Zone.

Buh-Dard = AL CY
ERA: 5th
K's: 1st (by A LOT)
WHIP: 4th (who's first? Some kid named Guthrie..)
OPPAVG: 2nd
K/9: 1st
He also has 10 W's for a team with a poor offense and a Win PCT in the Top Ten in the AL.
I hope someone on the voting committee looks at these stats. This kid is sick.

Cy Young chances
Dan Haren, Johan Santana, Erik Bedard and Josh Beckett.
Guys like Lackey, Verlander and Escobar are close, but i dont see them winning it for various reasons.
Haren is by far the front runner right now because hes simply having the best overall year. He has a half a run ERA lead over the next closest guy (Guthrie). On top of that, he has a nice 11 wins. But his ERA has risen each consecutive month and he has a 4.81 ERA in July. I would imagine his ERA will be closer to 3 by the end of the year.
Johan Santana is Johan Santana. He had a rough start against Toronto last time out, but we all know hes going to go bananas the next 2 months like he always does.
Beckett leads the league with 13 wins in addition to all around great numbers. The most important factor is that hes the ace for the best team in baseball. A resume like that would get you the Cy Young 75% of the time.
dmouthhog has already discussed Bedard's fantastic numbers. Haren and Santana play for bad teams, so Bedard will likely get a pass on that. If Bedard keeps pitching lights out and keeps up with Beckett in the wins, I would say he has an excellent shot to win.
But can Bedard keep it up? None of us know. All I know is that Bedard has never pitched more than 200 innings and hes on pace for 226 right now.

Carmona
If he outpaces Beckett for wins (say he wins 21 and Beckett "only" manages 19), he might sneak in. Wins are kind of useless, but voters are really big fans of wins. I could see it.
Though Beckett has the market and the name.

Not too old. ESPN stats are prety up to date.
Anyhow, it is easy to argue that Beckett and Sabathia, who are probaly considered two front runners (espcially on ESPN), are the worst of te bunch. Worst is relative here, but you know exactly what I'm saying.
