Do you live close enough to the O's to see them regularly?

Just curious.

I was wondering what the makeup of fans is here. I know there's a big NY contingent, and some folks out west, and of course our esteemed founder is in the Twin Cities. For those of us out of town, CC is a great way to catch up on the local mood regarding the team. But for that to happen requires locals to be here as well. And fortunately there are a bunch of them on the site. Just what is the ratio of locals vs out-of-towners is what I was wondering.

So take the poll. I had to pick an arbitrary distance, so I picked an hour. Anyone who's regularly driving more than an hour to a baseball game is being damned faithful. But if you live in Harford county and it's just over an hour, and you consider yourself local, then answer accordingly.

For bonus points, state where you actually live in the comments. This has been done before, but it's always nice to update the files...

I live in Massachusetts
or Maine, depending on whether people are forcing me to study. That kind of prevents me from getting to O's games, amongst other things.

Didn't somebody recently post a graphic of where all the posters live?  In any case, as of next week, Anaheim.

College Park, MD
I'm a senior at UMD, and hope to move far, far away from this town as soon as possible (i.e., when I graduate and get into grad school somewhere else).

but yeah, i don't go to o's games any more. the benefits don't outweigh the costs.

your pin

No, no, I remember the map from earlier

Boston.
As a student and software tester. I averaged 10 games a year when i lived in towson though. managed to get to 6 at camden yards (5 in a single 6-game home stand) and 2 at fenway this season, despite living in boston.

Boston, MA.
Brookline, to be precise. A 7-8 hr drive from Camden Yards. I usually make it to 3-4 games at OPACY a season. This year's totals:

OPACY: 3
Fenway: 2
Shea: 2
Citizen's Bank Park: 1
Pawtucket: 1
Lowell: 1
Portland: 1

Sterling, Virginia
It's about an hour 15 mins w/o traffic (like that ever happens) and I make it to 6-10 games a year, so I voted "close" on the poll.

I live in the second rate
one horse town of Boston, and since I've been there, I make it to Baltimore once a year for games.  Actually, I am in a hotel in Linthicum now after I saw Saturday and Sunday's games.

Still Moscow, and still not on the Hudson...
But I get back to the States for 4-6 weeks every year (sometimes more) and make it down to OPACY occasionally from either the family dacha in N. Pa. (Towanda area, on the Susquehanna) or the 'rents place in upstate NY (now switching from Ithaca to Ro-cha-chester).

East Side
The 3, which runs down to Pratt Street, runs right by my house. It would let me off a 2 minute walk away from Camden Yards. But I don't go cause we suck and this organization pisses me off.

New York City
From 1995 to 2001 I saw most of the games the Orioles played against the Yankees and the Mets in New York, including all but one of them in 1997. Starting around 1999 I began to wonder if I wanted to see the Orioles with such frequency, but kept going to most of the games anyway.

After 2001 increased (but ineffective) security and ticket prices made going to Yankee Stadium a major pain in the ass, so I starting going a couple of times a season rather than a couple of times a series.  I haven't seen them at Yankee Stadium this year (I saw them in Baltimore), but I will on the 19th.

New York, NY
But I usually go down to Camden Yards 5-6 times a season.  I don't attend games at Yankee Stadium anymore.  I've hit Shea during Interleague.

Chicago for the past 3 yrs
Born and raised in the burbs of Baltimore and have lived in the area for 19 of my 26 years. My parents still live in Cockeysville, so I go back a few times a year and always try to catch a game or two.

The O's always play one 4 game set a year at the Cell since I've lived in Chicago, so I usually go to at least two games per series. The O's are apparently one of two teams the Cubs have never played.

I guess with the name Crony I figured you to be older than me. Makes me think of an old curmudgeon telling kids to get off his lawn. You know, like duck :)
