Kristen denounces "Pink Hat Nation" in Boston Globe

I just gave an interview to a writer from the Boston Globe who found my site and wanted to know my take on the pink hats and the people who wear them.

She asked me about how it becomes a larger feminist issue and the fundamental differences between something like my site and Barstool sports which is insulting and sexist and appeals to the lowest common denominator. And how that all funneled down to the pink hats and the assumption people made about women sports fans because of them.

Basically, I said "Sports apparel is not about fashion. It's about supporting your team. Just as you can't pick your team, you can't pick your team's colors. Do you think people in Cincinnati are thrilled to walk around dressed like candy corn because their football team does? Probably not. But that's the hand you're dealt."

And then I railed some against the Boston preponderance of pink hat fans and the fact that they're in my seat.

Anyway, zknower asked me to post the article when it's published and I definitely will, but in the meantime, I'm bracing for an onslaught of backlash and abuse from the pink hats.

Playoff Hockey Thread Anyone?

Okay, so none of my friends care that much about hockey. But I grew up in a hockey family and it's a pretty big deal. So anyone wanna talk playoff hockey?

I scored some tickets to next Tuesday's Canadiens/Bruins Game 4 which means that in all likelihood, I'll see the Bruins get eliminated from the playoffs. People are, I think, foolishly optimistic about the Bruins' chances this year. It's almost endearing. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a Bruins fan, but come on. Their best player is still dealing with post-concussion symptoms (and yet might play anyway) and they're just not that good.

Still, playoff hockey is playoff hockey. And playoff hockey is amazing.

And for what it's worth, Ovechkin > Crosby any day of the week.

Hey kids, can I play?

Hey people. I'm Kristen. 2632 mentions me a lot. Sometimes she posts pictures of my rack to inspire players. Sometimes she sings "Orioles Magic" to my cat for the same reason. Hey, whatever works, right?

I'm a Sox fan but the awesome kind, I swear. Yes, we all say that and no, we don't all know what "the awesome kind" is. But I promise not to shit talk the Os, pontificate about the awesomeness of all things Sox or demand that you all genuflect to the alter of Big Papi. That's not how I roll, yo. I'm a baseball fan and I've come to have strong affection for the Os. (And am possibly a glutton for punishment). Also, trust me, y'all can't hate the bandwagon fans more than I do. It's not possible.

Also, Zachary can vouch for me since we drank together in a bar in Soho and beer breeds friends.

So, anyway, can I play?
